Revelation Ch. 14

 1. 1. A further pause in the action Ch. 14 Updating what has gone before and preparation for the final judgment – The Bowls of Wrath
 2. 2. The 144,000 on Mt. Zion Ch. 14:1-5

We see further details about these evangelists

1. They are pure virgins never having had sex.

 3. 3. The 144,000 on Mt. Zion Ch. 14:1-5

2. They now go with Jesus wherever He goes. They seem to have been martyred in this scene based on their description Rev. 14:4.

 4. 4.

3. They sing a new song that only they could learn – the song of Moses and the Lamb. Both speak of Victory and deliverance: Moses sang of deliverance from bondage in Egypt and the Lamb deliverance was from spiritual bondage.

4. They are on Mt. Zion (the Temple Mount) in Jerusalem.

The 144,000 on Mt. Zion Ch. 14:1-5
 5. 5. The Angel Preaching the Everlasting Gospel

Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

 6. 6.

Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgmen t [for sin] is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

The Angel Preaching the Everlasting Gospel
 7. 7. The everlasting choice

Worship God and give Him the glory Who made heaven and earth and all that is in them. Even on the edge of totally punishing a sinful rebellious people, God holds out a chance to repent.

 8. 8. The everlasting choice

If you will surrender to the Holy Spirit’s urging and warning and repent now, asking God to forgive you for your rebellion and sinfulness in following other religions and gods; if you will ask Him to wash you in the Blood of Jesus, you can be sure you will not be in the judgment to follow.

 9. 9. The everlasting choice

God is calling you and warning you out of His love for you. After reading this far, you can never ever say that God’s love wasn’t extended to you to save you from the terrible destruction He is being forced to bring on the earth by Satan’s forces and those who through their stubbornness choose a “God” of their own imagination who “is too good to send anybody to hell.”

 10. 10. The everlasting choice

His nature of Justice and Holiness demand that He punish sin and forever separate those who refuse His mercy from himself. He will never send you to hell. Hell was designed for Satan and his fallen angels who followed him in his rebellion. But, you choose to go to hell by rejecting even this offer for pardon His way.

 11. 11. The everlasting choice

And he is forced by the fact that He gave you a free will to honor your choice and not force you to change. If you choose to reject His pardon, it will break His heart but He will say “Not My will but your will be done.” because you are right now saying “Not YOUR will but mine be done.”

 12. 12. Pronouncement of the Fall of Political Babylon Ch. 14:8

From other parts of the Bible, we can guess that this “Babylon” is the City of Rome.

“ Babylon”
 13. 13. The characteristics of this Babylon (Rome)

In later chapters of Revelation we read that it was a center of commerce; that it was on the seacoast (all the ships saw the burning of the city and wailed because their source of profit was destroyed);

 14. 14. The characteristics of this Babylon (Rome)

that it trafficked in souls of men (Rome, Italy is one the main entry ports for Asian, Middle Eastern and African children from 4 – 16 years old (the younger the better) to be brought into Europe to be forced into the flesh mills of the brothels and pornography institutions);

 15. 15.

every sort of perversion went on there as well as every kind of riches was there. (See Ch. 18 for a complete description).

The characteristics of this Babylon (Rome)
 16. 16. The characteristics of this Babylon (Rome)

And to avoid any mistake, the whore church (described in Chapter 17) is described as being the church supported by Rome (the city that now rules over the kings of the earth – in John’s day - and that could only be Rome).

 17. 17. The Third Angel Gives a Warning

Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

 18. 18. The Third Angel Gives a Warning

Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation;

 19. 19.

and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

The Third Angel Gives a Warning catholic - resources . org / Art / DuncanLong . htm
 20. 20. The Third Angel Gives a Warning

Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

 21. 21. Jesus Bringing Home the Final Harvest Ch. 14:14-16

Rev 14:14 And I looked, and behold, a white cloud. And on the cloud sat one like the Son of man, having a golden crown on His head, and a sharp sickle in His hand.

Modified from
 22. 22. Jesus Bringing Home the Final Harvest Ch. 14:14-16

Rev 14:15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying in a great voice to Him sitting on the cloud, Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth was dried.

 23. 23. Jesus Bringing Home the Final Harvest Ch. 14:14-16

Rev 14:16 And He sitting on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reape d.

 24. 24.

This seems to be Jesus because of the description. He is taking out the last of the believers (who we call the “Tribulation Saints”) to begin preparations for the final bloody end of this period and the victorious resolution with His taking possession of the earth and cleansing it of all evil and unrighteousness.

Jesus Bringing Home the Final Harvest Ch. 14:14-16
 25. 25. Jesus Bringing Home the Final Harvest Ch. 14:14-16

Just as with Noah in the time of God’s destruction of the earth before, when God took out all the righteous people, so Jesus has taken out the righteous saints of The Tribulation Period before beginning the most horrible judgment ever meted out on the earth.

 26. 26. Jesus Bringing Home the Final Harvest Ch. 14:14-16

Another way we can know this is taking out the final harvest is that the grapes aren’t trodden in the winepress (a symbol in Revelation of God’s wrath). They are taken out of the earth (Raptured if you wish to call it that) and brought to be with Jesus along with the rest of the Saints.

 27. 27. Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20 Rev 14:18 … and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe [that is overripe and rotten] .
 28. 28. Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20

Rev 14:19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

 29. 29. Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20

Rev 14:20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles [about 6 feet deep] , by the space of [200 miles] .

 30. 30.

The blood coming out of the winepress indicates that some sort of fierce battle will take place with an enormous number of deaths.

Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20
 31. 31.

Just what this conflict is is a mystery to this commentator. It is possible that it refers to Zechariah 13:8

Zec 13:8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20
 32. 32. Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20

Or it might be Zechariah 14:2 “ For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. ”

 33. 33.

If the conflict outside Jerusalem described in Ch. 14:18-20 is a reference to Zechariah 14:2, then it is possibly one of the early battles in the War of Armageddon.

Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20
 34. 34.

Whatever it is, there is going to be a huge loss of life in and around Jerusalem with blood 6 feet deep flowing for 200 miles.

Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20
 35. 35. Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20

It is really the problem of those who are there at the time of the Tribulation. For you right now, your problem is to be sure you’re not there at that time. Receive salvation through asking Jesus to forgive you and wash your sins away in His blood and save you, now before it’s too late.

 36. 36. Over-ripe (rotten) grapes reaped Ch. 14:18-20

One thing we can know for sure is that this is part of the continued judgment on and punishment of the rebellious people left on the earth at that time.
