  6. 6. 3. 8051 MICROCONTROLLER A microcontroller is an economical computer-on-a-chip for doing with specific tasks, such as displaying or receiving information through LED or remote controlled devices.  The 8051 is an 8-bit microcontroller which means that most available operations are limited to 8 bits

  9. 9. 6.FEATURES OF 8051 i. RAM – 128 Bytes (Data memory) ii. ROM – 4Kbytes (ROM signify the on – chip program space) iii. 32 general purpose registers each of 8 bits iv. Two 16 bit Timer/ Counter v. Input/output Pins – 4 Ports of 8 bits each on a single chip. vi. 3 internal and 2 external interrupts. vii. 8 – bit ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit)
  10. 10. 8. INTERRUPT An interrupt is a communicated to the controller, by a hardware device or software, on receipt of which controller momentarily stops and responds to the interrupt.
  11. 11. 9. SOFTWARE Software, is a collection of computer programs and related data that provide the instructions for telling a computer what to do and how to do it.
  12. 12. 10. KEIL µVISION The KEIL 8051 Development Tools are designed to solve the complex problems facing embedded software developers.
  13. 13. USE OF COMPILER AND PROGRAMMER Compiler: KEIL Programming Tool: ISP 1.Double Click on the icon present on the desktop. 2.The following window will be popped-up
  14. 14. 3. Go to the project & click on new project
  15. 15. 4.Make a folder on desktop & give file name.
  16. 16. 5.when you click on the save button ,following window opens
  17. 17. 6. Select ATMEL & AT89S51 / Philips & 89c51RD2xx
  18. 18. 7. Then select NO on the pop-up given below.
  19. 19. 1.Then make a New File.
  20. 20. 9. Write or copy your code there & save it with extension .c or .asm depending on your coding. 2)Go to target & then source group, right click on there & click on the option add files to the project. Select your asm or c file which you want to add. 3)Go to the option for target, click on output &tick on create hex file option
  21. 21. 4)Now build target.(Click on the pointed option)... 5) It will show you 0 errors &0 warning on Output Window.
