JAMSHEDJI NUSSERWANJI TATABorn on(March 3, 1839 - May 19, 1904) was apioneer in the field of modern industry. He was born in Navsari, Gujarat, India. He founded what would later become the Tata Group of companies. Jamsetji Tata is regarded as the "father of Indian industry".
HISTORY● Tata Iron and Steel Company was established by DorabjiTata on August 26, 1907, as part of his father Jamsetjis Tata Group.By 1939 it operated the largest steel plant in the British Empire. The company launched a major modernization and expansion program in 1951. Later, the program was upgraded to 2 MTPA project. In 1990, it started expansion plan and established its subsidiary Tata Inc. in New York. The company changed its name from TISCO to Tata Steel in 2005.
The Tata Iron and Steel Company (now TataSteel) is established to set up Indias first ironand steel plant in Jamshedpur. The plantstarted production in 1912.
