How to name client folders

1. HOW TO NAME CLIENT FOLDERS
For clients with multiple matters:
 Active Clients
 Client Last Name, First Name
Matter Name
 Emails and Correspondence
 Pleadings
 Notes and Memos
 Legal Research
 Documents from Client
 etc.
For clients with one matter:
 Client Last Name, First Name
 Emails and Correspondence
 Pleadings
 Notes and Memos
 Legal Research
 Documents from Client
 etc.
Tip:
For most practitioners, the best approach for setting up electronic files is to
mirror your existing (or former) paper system.
If your paper system included an accordian file with 5 subfolders labeled
“correspondence,” “file notes,” “discovery,” “pleadings,” and “research”
recreate those subfolders electronically.
