3. GENRE
I have chosen the genre of ROMANTIC COMEDY for my film trailer as it
will be both challenging, and interesting to create. As I belong to the
16-25 female TARGET AUDIENCE that my film will be aimed at this will
be beneficial as I will be able to adhere the film to my own tastes.
As the romantic comedy genre covers a broad spectrum of sub genres
it gives me an opportunity to be slightly more obscure and creative
with my plot choices in order for my film to be less conventional than
other films of a similar genre.
5. INSPIRATION BOARD:
-Two lead roles, one male one female
-Always a problem of some form (link to
Torodovs theory) which is somehow
resolved, although can be difficult and the
ending is not always stereotypically ‘happy’
-Filmic devices include
-TIME LAPSE, STOP MOTION, SPLIT SCREENS
AUTUMNAL COLOUR SCHEME
COSTUMES- Stylised, understated, strong use
of red and blues.
6. “ In the case of good books, the
point is not to see how many of
them you can get through, but how
many can get through to you. ”
Mortimer Adler
1902-2001
7. WHAT IF THE STORIES WE READ ABOUT WERE REAL?
IF WORKS OF FICTION BECAME OUR REALITY?
IF OUR MOST LOVED CHARCTERS WERE REAL PEOPLE?
8. CONCEPT: GIRL MEETS BOY. BOY ISN’T ACTUALLY REAL...
She spent her whole child hood with her nose practically glued to
the pages of a book. The classic bookworm, in need of an escape.
Growing up she was constantly in search of new people, new
worlds, new stories.
He spent his life trapped, confided to the pages of a book, never
growing, never changing just the same story, the same
people, page after page, chapter after chapter...
And of course by some coincidence, or what others may like to refer to as
‘fate’ the two, who are complete opposites are bought together...
9. STORY BOARD FOR TRAILER...
Break down of scenes, and design
concepts- See sketches
ALSO- Note music/voice over
10. FILMIC DEVICES: TIME LAPSE
As the child version of the girl sits reading
at the start, through use of time lapse, to
suggest her growing the books that pile
up beside her will include titles that show
about her life, as she finally gets to the
top and is shown as a young adult and
there are no books left this is when she
goes in search of a new one....
(title of the top book will prompt her to
leave)
(to the library in which she will meet the
‘boy from the book’)
11. STOP MOTION
I plan on including a very short
amount of stop motion within the film
trailer, used in a similar way to the 500
days of summer trailer: (36)
