Systematic Approach to Teaching
2. • The focus of systematic Instructional planning
is the student or the learner.
3. 1. Define the Objectives
• Indicates the goal or aim.
• Instruction begins with the definition of
Instructional Objectives that consider the
learners’ needs, interests and readiness.
• On the basis of these objectives, the teacher
selects the appropriate teaching methods to be
used and, in turn, based on the teaching method
selected, chooses also appropriate learning
experiences and appropriate materials,
equipment and facilities.
4. 2. Choose Appropriate Methods
• It must be dependent on the Learning
Objectives.
• The strategic method or learning methodology
is based on the nature of the learner .
5. 3. Choose Appropriate Experiences
• It is important for the teachers to decide
specific activities which are related to the
instruction.
• Learning Activities that are dependent and
related to the subject matter and to the
teaching method to be used.
6. 4. Select materials, equipments, and
facilities
• It depends upon the activity or learning
experiences to be conducted or implemented.
• The use of learning materials, equipment and
facilities necessities assigning the appropriate
personnel to assist the teacher and defining
the role of any personnel involved in the
preparation, setting and returning of these
learning resources.
7. 5. Assign Personnel Roles
• These can be the Librarian, facilitator, tour
guides and the like.
• This should be done ahead of time to have a
good flow of discussion, an organized and
effective instruction.
8. 6. Implement the Instruction
• Carrying out or Executing teaching instruction.
• Application of the previous steps (From
defining the objectives to assigning personnel
roles)
9. 7. Evaluate Outcomes
• This is done to determine if the learning
objectives are met. This is through conducting
seatwork, exercises, group activity and the like to
determine the extent of the learning outcome.
• From the evaluation results, the teacher will
know if it is now possible to proceed to the next
lesson going through the same cycle once more
or there is a need to have a remedial session so
that no learners will be left behind.
10. 8. Refine the Process
• It is used if the Learning Objectives are not
met.
• The teacher should device plans (remedial,
tutorial or give more examples) for the
learners to fully understand the lesson.
• It is dependent on the outcome.
11. The phases or elements are connected to one
another. If one element or one phase of the
instructional process fails, the outcome which
is learning is adversely affected. The
attainment of the learning is dependent on
the synergy of all elements and of all actors
involve in the process.
