Not only is Personal Development, Health, Physical
Education (PDHPE) an important key learning area
within the Primary curriculum, but it is where students
can develop a healthy lifestyle in the social and cultural
context in which they live – both now and in the future.

2. PDHPE Promotes Physical
Activity
Regular physical activity is an essential
part in maintaining and developing a
child’s quality of life.
 Improves cardiovascular efficiency;
 Helps to reduce coronary heart disease;
 Enhances bone development;
 Controls obesity; and
 Improves psychological health and
immune status.

3. Provides guidance in
making healthy choices,
what it means to have a
balanced diet and gaining
an understanding of their
body and it’s needs.

4. Teaches Safe Living
Children learn what it means to live in a safe and secure environment.
Gain problem
solving skills.
Recognize
