OUR<br />OUR<br />Focus<br /> Developing independence: personally and in class<br /> Developing a solid platform of literacy and numeracy skills<br /> Developing problem solving and thinking skills<br /> Developing a greater awareness of the world around them.<br /> Manage themselves in class: listening to and following instructions, being in the right place at the right time<br /> Make good choices<br />

  5. 5. Literacy<br />LITERACY<br />in the class<br />Literacy and numeracy make up a significant part of the programme. Main focus of programme in Year 1 & 2.<br /> Literacy (Reading, writing) happens 5 days week. Children will bring home readers every night. <br /> Readers need to be returned every day. No reader or book bag-no book.<br /> G-Guided: Read in class, with teacher. Should be able to be read with some confidence.<br /> I-Independent: At an easier level but some texts <br />can still challenge.<br />

Numeracy<br />NUMERACY<br />in the class<br />Numeracy and Algebra, Geometry, Measurement and Statistics.<br /> Numeracy is the largest component of the maths programme.<br /> Number knowledge is the foundation for all future learning.<br />Statistics is a major strand focus for past 4 years.<br />

Parent<br />Parent<br />Helpers<br /> Code of conduct for those wishing to get involved<br /> Mainly on a needs basis but if you have skills in a particular area, let us know if there are any areas we can put you to use<br /> Labelling and mending books<br /> Help needed for EOTC opportunities<br />

Goal<br />GOAL<br />Setting<br /> Interviews work between school-child-parents/caregivers <br /> Literacy or Numeracy Goal + a personal goal<br /> Look at WHY the child wants to achieve this goal then HOW they will go about it<br /> It would be most beneficial if both parents/caregivers and child attend<br />
  12. 12. GENERAL<br />GENERAL<br />Information<br />Newsletters: School and syndicate newsletters go home on Thursdays. Can be accessed from the school website as well.<br />Lunches: Purchased from the hall from 8:30am. Delivered to each syndicate at the start of lunch.<br />Money: Any payments go through the office.<br />Lost property: We have no bin. Make sure gear is named.<br />Permission Slips: Please make sure all Daily Fitness and Computer Use agreements are returned to school.<br />
