Early Life <ul><li>Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence,Italy March 9, 1454 </li></ul><ul><li>Vespucci was interested in astronomy and the universe </li></ul><ul><li>Vespucci was the third son of wealthy Italian merchants </li></ul><ul><li>At an early age Vespucci wanted to be an explorer </li></ul>
    3. 3. Previous Experience <ul><li>Vespucci was sent to Spain to help Columbus load for his first voyage </li></ul><ul><li>Vespucci studied navigation skills </li></ul><ul><li>Vespucci was educated well by his uncle </li></ul>
    4. 4. Exploration <ul><li>Vespucci explored where Columbus had thought he had discovered Asia </li></ul><ul><li>To ensure his trip would be a safe one, Vespucci brought 4 boats </li></ul><ul><li>Vespucci explored the Bahamas and found thousands of native Americans </li></ul>
    5. 5. Discoveries <ul><li>Amerigo Vespucci discovered that where Columbus landed was actually not Asia it was in-fact he had discovered a new land </li></ul><ul><li>Along the way, many of his crew members got ill and died One other problem was that storms slowed them down </li></ul>
    6. 6. Conclusion <ul><li>Unfortunately, in Seville,Spain February 22, 1512 Amerigo Vespucci died of Malaria at the age of 58 </li></ul><ul><li>His remembered today by naming the new world he discovered, America </li></ul>
