OBJECTIVES <ul><li>1-Develop a curriculum that will allow the students to be able to understand and implement COPC </li></ul><ul><li>2-Develop a training program for staff members to be able to teach and train students about COPC. </li></ul><ul><li>3-Develop the practical module that will allow the students to understand and acquire the skills necessary for the application of COPC </li></ul>

  7. 7. <ul><li>B-Implementation of training </li></ul><ul><li>1-Theoretical and practical training in class covering the topics that will be taught to the students. </li></ul><ul><li>2-Field work to a nearby health unit where the different steps of the implementation of the project were carried out. </li></ul><ul><li>3-Pre and post tests were used to evaluate the training and the intervention. </li></ul><ul><li>4-They submit a report and deliver a presentation at the workshop held on the 29 th of December 2004. </li></ul>

  9. 9. <ul><li>Every two months will have about 185 students </li></ul><ul><li>The module is formed of: </li></ul><ul><li>● Three weeks in class </li></ul><ul><li>● Five weeks Field work : </li></ul><ul><li>- Three to four visits by every 20 students to a selected health unit. </li></ul><ul><li>-Identify and prioritize the health problems </li></ul><ul><li>-Every 5 students will develop, implement and evaluate an intervention for a selected problem. </li></ul><ul><li>-Write the report and make a presentation </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>Sixth Outcome: </li></ul><ul><li>Two workshops were held: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>1- A s part of the Faculty Conference on October. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2-On the 29 th of December, three presentations were delivered by: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>PM </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Junior staff </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>A Group of students </li></ul></ul></ul>

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS <ul><li>Till the 10 th of February two groups of students (2 rounds) have finished their COPC projects. </li></ul><ul><li>They carried out 72 interventions. </li></ul><ul><li>They wrote 18 reports </li></ul><ul><li>They delivered 18 presentations, One was presented at the workshop with the junior staff </li></ul><ul><li>Discussion of reports upon submission by students was carried out. </li></ul><ul><li>The grades are divided over the attendance, discussion of the reports, presentation, and participation in class and in the field. </li></ul>

TYPES OF STUDENTS’ INTERVENTION <ul><li>It was in form of Health Education or Health Education and Screening. </li></ul><ul><li>The sessions were preceded by pre-test and followed by a post test . </li></ul><ul><li>The selected problems were : </li></ul><ul><li>1-Gastro-enteritis 2-Parasitic infestations </li></ul><ul><li>3-Bilharziasis 4-Diabetus </li></ul><ul><li>5-Hypertension 6-ARI </li></ul><ul><li>7-Anaemias 8-Eye Infections </li></ul><ul><li>9-Skin Infections 10-Liver affection </li></ul><ul><li>11-Under-utilization of services. </li></ul>

PLAN FOR NEXT SIX MONTHS <ul><li>April to Mid June: </li></ul><ul><li>Continue with Implementation of COPC for students </li></ul><ul><li>Mid-June to End of July: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Planning for Campaign to be carried in a selected one or two villages (outside the scope of the project). </li></ul></ul><ul><li>August: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Implement the Campaign </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Analyze collected data and </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Write a report </li></ul></ul><ul><li>September: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A Meeting will be organized to present the results and get feedback before the final evaluation . </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Plan for the final evaluation </li></ul></ul>
