  2. 2. Toyota’s Finest Sports Cars<br />Toyota has produced some of the finest examples of sporting automobiles of all time.<br />I will now take you through which I believe to be the best of the best<br />
  3. 3. The GT 2000<br />The GT 2000 was considered the first “Japanese super car”<br />Featured In the 1967 James bond film “You only live Twice”<br />A mere 351 were produced<br />Produced between1967-1970<br />Powered by a 2.5Linline 6, producing150bhp<br />
  4. 4. The Celica<br />Produced from 1970 – 2006 it is Toyotas longest produced sports car<br />Over it’s life span it went from RWD to FWD and featureda number of different 4 cylinder engines<br />There were 7 generations of Celica<br />

The MR2<br />The MR2 was mid engined, light, seated 2 and of course RWDthis made for supercar like handling for a fraction of the price<br />It went through 3 generations between 1984 and 2007The last being a convertible only<br />It featured Naturally Aspirated, Supercharged and Turbocharged engines<br />

The Supra<br />Originally a larger more powerful version of the Celica, the supra went on to be a legend of it’s own.<br />4 generations between 1979 and 2002<br />The mark IV held one of the greatest engines Toyota ever builtThe “2jz-GTE” a twin turbo inline 6 that can be tuned and safely hold in excess of 500bhp<br />

The Altezza<br />Also know as the Lexus IS in North America<br />The Atezza has been produced since 1998 and it’s currently in it’s second generation<br />Available with a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engine and RWD or AWD<br />The most impressive version known as the “IS F” produces 417bhp and comes with and 8 speed transmission<br />

The AE-86<br />This sports version of the Corolla started production in 1984And featured 2 versions the “Levin” and the “Tureno”<br />The Levin had fixed headlights where the Tureno had pop-upsBesides that they were identical<br />Being very light and RWD with easily tuneable engines made this car very popular with all kinds of drivers <br />

The GT-FOUR<br />The GT-FOUR is an AWD Turbocharged version of the Celica<br />It was produced during the 4th 5th and 6th generation of Celica<br />Each generation got it’s own version of the 4cly 2L “3S-GTE”<br />The GT-FOUR did very well in the World Rally Championshipmaking it a rally legend<br />

The FT-86 and the Future<br />Toyota currently makes no sports cars (unless you count Lexus)<br />The FT-86 is a concept car based on the AE-86it was first shown in October of 2009<br />It is planned to be released to the public by November 2011and will be powered by a 2L flat 4 manufactured by Subaru <br />
