Music Video Concept Paper

  1. 1. MUSIC VIDEO CONCEPT PAPER SONG/ MUSIC: title of the song / music ARTIST: indicate here the artist/s DIRECTOR / PROD HOUSE: who will be the “person-in charge” of the production; usually the director GENERAL CONCEPT: This is the summary of your treatment for the video GUIDELINES: This Is where you write your constraints (creative, technical and logistics). PEGS: This is where you indicate your photos and video pegs; meaning the look or treatment, which you, most likely, wanted for your music video. ATTACHMENTS: (OPTIONAL) This is where you attach the following: 1) logistics plan (shooting date, location, crew, talents, etc.) 2) Scene breakdown and shot list 3) Storyboard
  2. 2. SAMPLE FORMAT “FAVORITE SIN” by MENAYA, Warner Music Phil. Music Video Treatment Direction and Design by: Nestor Abrogena The general feel of the music video will be: Sodom-Gomorrha party of 7 deadly sins, heavy- color-paletted, hybrid of different styles and designs from contemporary Victorian cuts to stripped-down Asian, a mixture of sleek Brit mod-retro, heavy-goth, emo punk and futuristic architectured techno. Bottom Line: It’s one hell of a party! So here are the few rules that I want to apply in making the music video: 1) It is a band performance/ conceptual design video. 2) A steady cam and/or dolly will be used to follow the vocalist as he walks through the “hallway of sins.” It will be used also on band performance and situationers / inserts. 3) Extras and talents will be needed. A main girl talent is needed and will be supplied by the production and/or the band. The girl should be angelic-pretty / sultry in white ala Claire Danes in Romeo and Juliet. The band and the production will invite personalities to cameos. 4) We will shoot indoors. 5) The lighting will be bright opposed to similar-themed videos that applied minimal lighting. The video will be heavily-lighted and/or will have light installations as fixtures. 6) We need full band set-up with amps including cables 7) Basically the video will be a series of 4 sequenced set-up: a) 1 Long take using Steadicam stabilizer b) 5 Master Shots of the Main Hall (Band + people) c) Series of shots of the situationes (personalities and invited guests/ friends) d) Band performance 8) The band and main girl talent will be in white suits with black details on it. 9) We will have a simple cut-to-cut editing, with special effects at the end of the video To get the picture, refer to the following music video pegs on YouTube: 1) Panic at The Disco – Nine In The Afternoon 2) Tokyo Police Club- Graves 3) Dave Matthews Band- Crash Into Me 4) Dresden Dolls- Girl Anachronism 5) Katy Perry- I Kissed a Girl Movie Clips: 1) Moulin Rouge 2) Chicago 3) Studio 54 4) Phantom of the Opera / Van Helsing
