Anaerobic sludge digestion in wastewater treatment plants releases ammonium, magnesium and phosphate. The presence of these components can form struvite, which can lead to great inefficiency within the plant due to scale on lines and belts, in centrifuges and pumps, clogging of system pipes and other equipment including the anaerobic digester itself.
The chemical cleaning is now favoured as it can prevent and remove struvite with minimal downtime. BASF Water Chemicals offers you Antiprex® AD 1020 XP and Antiprex® MSA, which show excellent performance in the prevention and treatment of struvite issues in wastewater treatment plants.
