Prom Pwr Pt 2

  1. 1. There’s No Place Like Prom SALINE HIGH SCHOOL PROM ~*~ APRIL 25, 2009 ~*~ EMU STUDENT CENTER
  2. 2. “ We’re not in Kansas anymore…” For the first time in several years, the prom will be off-campus at the EMU Student Center! <ul><li>We’ve reserved the: </li></ul><ul><li>Grand Ballroom </li></ul><ul><li>Mezzanine </li></ul><ul><li>Auditorium (to show the movie) </li></ul><ul><li>Lounge </li></ul><ul><li>Set-up will begin Thursday evening (April 23 rd ), continue Friday (no school that day!), and end with some last minute pieces beginning around 6 Saturday. </li></ul>
  3. 3. We’re Off to See the Wizard! <ul><li>The Class of 2010 has chosen The Wizard of Oz as their inspiration. To decorate the entryway and hallway, the students’ current ideas include: </li></ul><ul><li>gossamer rainbows streaming on each side of the ticket table </li></ul><ul><li>a yellow-brick road leading to the ballroom doors </li></ul><ul><li>Munchkin Land </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Munchkin Land: </li></ul><ul><li>Have: Huts, turf for grass </li></ul><ul><li>Need: Decorative elements (lollipops, etc.) </li></ul><ul><li>Entryway: </li></ul><ul><li>Have: Rainbow gossamer, 200 feet of Yellow Brick Road </li></ul><ul><li>Need: Frame to drape </li></ul>
  5. 5. Ease on Down the Road <ul><li>The scarecrow will greet the students, directing them to the ballroom and the auditorium. </li></ul>The Tin Man will be in the Mezzanine with the forest behind him. A poppy field will surround the gates to our Emerald City
  6. 6. <ul><li>Mezzanine: </li></ul><ul><li>Have: Large trees (2), an old oil can, sign “I would turn back if I were you” </li></ul><ul><li>Need: a Tin Man </li></ul><ul><li>Lobby: </li></ul><ul><li>Have: White fence, ears of corn </li></ul><ul><li>Need: The Scarecrow! </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Ballroom Entryway: </li></ul><ul><li>Have: Small assortment of fake red poppies </li></ul><ul><li>Need: make tissue-paper equivalents to cover field </li></ul><ul><li>LARGE Project: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Build Gates to Emerald City to frame current doors into the ballroom </li></ul></ul>
  8. 8. “ Jolly Old Town” – The Emerald City ~*~ The Ballroom will be our Emerald City! The twinkling sets from Wicked are one source of inspiration, and after-Christmas sales allowed us to stock up on everything green! We’d also like to feature the DJ as the Wizard, a hot-air balloon and a skyline.
  9. 9. <ul><li>Need: </li></ul><ul><li>Basket for large hot-air balloon </li></ul><ul><li>DJ as the Wizard </li></ul><ul><li>Large Ruby Slippers </li></ul><ul><li>Ballroom - Have: </li></ul><ul><li>40’x30’ tent frame w/ thousands of lights, ornaments, tulle, gossamer </li></ul><ul><li>8’x12’ flats to paint/frame the room </li></ul><ul><li>Mrs. Litchard’s designs </li></ul>

If we only had a brain: <ul><li>Help with decorations, especially our “need” projects </li></ul><ul><li>Set-Up Days – exact hours to follow, but Thursday evening (23 rd ), all-day Friday and Saturday right before the dance all needed. </li></ul><ul><li>A Parent Coordinator to simply be the go-to person the night of the dance – more like the traffic director. </li></ul><ul><li>Ticket-takers, valet parking committee, coat-check, general chaperoning duties </li></ul><ul><li>Help immediately after the dance to clear any salvageable items into the attached storage room. </li></ul>Things we need your help with over the next several weeks :
