Shaken Baby Syndrome

 1. 1. Shaken Baby Syndrome A Presentation by Anna Toth
 2. 2. Shaken Baby Syndrome

Occurs when a infant or young child is violently shaken by a parent or caregiver.

Sometimes it is purposely done to abuse the child.

Other times, the caregiver gets frustrated with having to deal with a crying baby.

 3. 3. Why I Feel Strongly

I’ve known what shaken baby syndrome is, however I have not felt strongly about it until recently.

I was on when I received a bulletin showing a video of a couple who’s child was shaken by his caregiver.

 4. 4. Baby Kaleb

At five months old, baby Kaleb was shaken by his baby sitter. He is still alive today by the grace of God.

Kristy, Kaleb’s mother, would post pictures and blogs of Kaleb’s progress to let her huge group of supporters know how he was doing.

 5. 5. You Tube

There are many videos on You Tube not only about Baby Kaleb, but about shaken baby syndrome.

This is a CRIME and there are many people out there who want others to know how horrible this reality is.

 6. 6.

There are not many, if any, slideshows on this website about shaken baby syndrome. I’m glad mine will be the first or among the few to prove to people that this is a crime. Unlike cancer, this is something that is not so widespread, however people do need to realize the impact of this treacherous act.

 7. 7.

There are only 32 results when you search for shaken baby syndrome on this site. That’s not nearly enough. More needs to be done to get this information out there before more innocent children get hurt.

The National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome is the first search result.

 8. 8. Conclusion

As I said before, not nearly enough is out there to the public about SBS.

YouTube does the best job in presenting the most options for people to view.

A lot of the videos published on YouTube are very emotional and definitely tug at one’s heartstrings.
