Hello!
Lead designer Anders Jacobsson
@the_ballde

@ScreenTwitt
Have you ever felt like this?
You are 6 months into development of the multimillion kronor project and suddenly you start
wondering - are we doing the right thing?
Knowledge about user

Project life time
OK, we did some user research up front in the beginning of the project. But do we actually know more now?
Isn’t this weird?
Don’t you think this is strange?
Knowledge about user

Project life time
Shouldn’t it be like this instead?
This is a lot more like it!
Now we increase our knowledge of the user during the project.
But how can we achieve this?
Does anyone know?
How?
User Insights

Concept ...

Recognize this? This is how we normally work.
So we analyze. Then make a concept. Then we design. Then we develop.
But then...
Create

Analyze
Instead we should test the concepts with customers.
Co-create with customers.
Co-create with the client.
Develop earlier.

Test
...

Or rather like this.
Bring in users at several points right from the start!
Co-create with them and with the client.
Or rather like this.
Bring in users at several points right from the start!
Co-create with them and with the client.
In the early phases life is good!
Erase everything and start over

In the early phase you get to do this - start over.
Take the chance and try it once in a while!
Use concept sketches
Using paper prototypes and concept sketches you can get the user testing going really early - use this!
Remember at this stage you can still start over! This is the way to get the right thing going.
Use prototypes
Early in the development process, intended users should use simulations and prototypes to carry out real tasks,
and their performance and reactions should be observed, recorded and analysed.
Use the stakeholders

To really get things done you should have people from your client onboard. Have them be part of the creation
process, and show them the results from the user testing honestly during the process. Once you get this going
you may get to get to change things, even at a later stage - just maybe now you all have the end users in focus and
CONCLUSION

•
•
•

Invite your test people
Create stuff
Iterate
Use the stakeholders
In other words - work like a baus!
Thank You!
