After being nominated for 3 Oscars in 1957, this movie lost all
of them to ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’. The remake of this
movie ‘Ek ruka hua ______’ was directed by Basu Chatterjee in
the year 1986 with certain interesting changes.
Original movie: A certain character is irritated because he
cannot go to watch a certain baseball game.
Indian version: The character has tickets to a Dilip Kumar movie
‘Mashal’ that he can’t watch because of the situation he is in.
He dropped an alphabet and sketched something hastily
on the back of a cigarette pack when two men visited his
shop one fine day in April 1963. He was paid 5 pounds for
the artwork and since the sketch has been globally
recognised as the logo of X.

Indravadan J. Purohit passed away recently (29 September
2014). He is remembered the most for his work as X in the
Bollywood movie Y. He was also a part of SAB TV’s kids
show ‘Baal Veer’ where he played the role of Dooba Dooba
Called ‘Chhotu Dada’ affectionately by his colleagues, his
costume for X was made in such a way that he had to act
blindly with weight almost equal to his own over his head.

Canning Highway in Perth, Western Australia. One of the most
enduring sights on Canning Highway has been the Raffles
Hotel at night-time, with its ornamental lighting and an iconic
animated rooftop neon beer sign (for many years advertising
Raffles Hotel had the reputation of being a dangerous ‘hideout’
because of the crossroads just outside the hotel, prone to
accidents. Young would go there and end up getting killed. We
have all heard the story of the exploits of Raffles Hotel. Where?

The Volvo XC 90 R is a mid-size cross-over luxury SUV
produced by Volvo Cars since it was unveiled at the Detroit
Motor Show 2002. As Volvo's top-selling vehicle in the
United States, the XC90 was also Volvo's best selling model
worldwide in 2005 with 85,994 cars sold. However, we got
a good glimpse of this car some time in 2009 touring the
roads of India, some checkpoints being the Indira Gandhi
International Airport, Woodville Palace Hotel (Shimla),

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power
station located on the south bank of the River Thames, in
Battersea, an inner-city district of South West London. It
comprises two individual power stations, built in two stages in the
form of a single building. Battersea A Power Station was built in
the 1930s, with Battersea B Power Station to its east in the
1950s. The two stations were built to an identical design,
providing the well known four-chimney layout. The station ceased
generating electricity in 1983, but over the past 50 years it has
become one of the best known landmarks in London and is
Grade II* listed.
What is this a recipe for?

Yield: A generous quart, 4 to 6
1/4 cup olive oil, plus more as
1 1/2 cups small diced yellow onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 cups medium diced eggplant, skin
1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
1 cup diced green bell peppers
1 cup diced red bell peppers
1 cup diced zucchini squash
1 cup diced yellow squash
1 1/2 cups peeled, seeded and
1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh basil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Salt and freshly ground black
Set a large 12-inch saute pan over
medium heat and add the olive oil.
Once hot, add the onions and garlic
to the pan. Cook the onions, stirring
occasionally, until they are wilted
and lightly caramelized, about 5 to 7
minutes. Add the eggplant and
thyme to the pan and continue to
cook, stirring occasionally, until the
eggplant is partially cooked, about 5
minutes. Add the green and red
peppers, zucchini, and squash and
continue to cook for an additional 5
minutes. Add the tomatoes, basil,
parsley, and salt and pepper, to
taste, and cook for a final 5 minutes.
Stir well to blend and serve either
hot or at room temperature.
