Nortica Slideshare

 1. 1.

Product Presentation

 2. 2. Nortica Is No. 1

Nortica is revolutionary. It is the first biological product proven to manage nematode problems, while delivering exceptional benefits to the turf grass root systems.

Turf Management

Nortica was specifically developed to prevent parasitic nematodes from attacking the root structure.

Biological Innovation

Nortica forms a living, growing barrier of protection around the root structure, preventing nematodes from attacking the root system and depleting the nutrients that allow turf to grow.

Plant Health

Nortica fosters healthy root systems that contribute to overall plant health, increasing turf density and color.

 3. 3. A Few Benefits of Nortica

Natural management of nematodes, giving you the upper hand before the problem starts.

Improved turf quality, density and color for a highly playable turf.

Sprayable for easy application with no course closure.

Proven management of lance, sting and root knot nematodes.

Environmentally friendly profile.

 4. 4. Nortica. It's Alive.

The active ingredient in Nortica is actually a living bacteria called Bacillus firmus. When applied to the soil, Bacillus firmus helps manage nematodes and protects the roots from nematode damage.

By protecting the roots, the overall plant health of the turf is improved with stronger root growth below ground and stronger turf above.

 5. 5. Nematodes are small.

But the problems they cause are not.

Nematodes are microscopic worms that feed on the root systems and can cause serious damage to turf.

With a damaged root system, turf weakens and can show a reduction in density, color, and overall quality as well as an increase in drought stress and susceptibility to disease.

Symptoms of nematode damage include: weak turf, poor rooting, chlorosis, poor density, and an overall reduction on water and fertility efficiency.

 6. 6. How Nortica is Unique

A fresh approach to nematode management.

When using Nortica, you are utilizing a revolutionary, preventative approach to protect roots and enhance root growth in the presence of parasitic nematodes.

Nortica offers protection to the root system thereby minimizing the symptoms and damage from nematodes. The result is deeper roots and denser, more robust turf.

 7. 7. Mode of Action

Eating nematodes out of house and home.

Upon application, Nortica spores germinate to a form reproductive, vegetative cells that colonize at the root surface. Nortica consumes the plant exudates that nematodes use for food. No food makes life very tough on nematodes and they go elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the layer of protection formed around the root not only acts as a protector, but induces production of indoleacetic acid, a growth-promoting hormone that actually strengthens the root.

 8. 8. Mode of Action

Without Nortica.

Nematodes are microscopic worms that feed on root systems, which can cause serious damage to turf.

 9. 9. Mode of Action

With Nortica.

Nortica creates an actual living, growing barrier to protect the root systems from nematode damage.

 10. 10. The Proof

The proof is in the pudding. Or in this case, the Bermudagrass.

Extensive trials were conducted from 2008 through 2010, comparing Nortica with the industry standard in nematode control.

All trials were applied on Bermudagrass in Florida, Alabama and South Carolina. In all instances, Nortica consistently demonstrated the most improved root growth, turf quality and turf creates an actual living, growing barrier to protect the root systems from nematode damage.

 11. 11. The Proof

Percent Root Increase - Bermudagrass with the application of Nortica and Industry Standard.

 15. 15. How to Apply

Due to the preventative nature of this product, application timing is critical. Nortica should be applied in the late winter to early spring when root initiation is beginning in the turf and before nematode activity has peaked.

Application timing depends on the specific location. In general, application should occur when the low air temperature reaches 60F for 3 consecutive days. In trials, research showed that Nortica consistently improved root growth (depth), turf quality and turf density.

 16. 16. Rate & Timing

Rate

70 lbs. of Nortica per acre applied in late winter to spring, prior to or during root expansion. 70 lbs. of Nortica also delivers .25 lbs. of Nitrogen per 1,000 square feet.

Timing

Timing is based on growth models that predict when root expansion will occur. The concept is to apply Nortica at or during root expansion to protect newly developing roots from nemotode damage.

A good indication of timing is when the low air temperature reaches 60 F for 3 consecutive days.

For the Southeast region, review the zoned calendar map below to ensure the best timing is achieved for your area.
