  2. 2. Use  HTTPS  whenever  you  can   to  log  into  Facebook  Facebook  is  a  free  site  that  enables  more  than  800  million  people  to  connect  and  share  with  others  
  3. 3. The  “home  page”  gives  you  an  overview  of  what  your  connec5ons  are  doing  and  lets  you  interact  with  their  content  
  4. 4. SHARING  CONTENT  
  5. 5. You  can  also  update  your  own  “status”  to  share  with  others  from  the  home  page  
  6. 6. Clicking  on  Update  Status  brings  up  a  box  for  you  to  enter  in  text  or  paste  a  link.    You  can  alterna5vely  add  a  photo  or  ask  a  ques5on  by  selec5ng  those  links  
  7. 7. Note  the  default  audience  for  your  update.    Here,  you  see  that  my  default  is  set  to  “custom.”    If  you  have  not  changed  any  seUngs,  the  default  is  public  
  8. 8. Selec5ng  the  audience  will  let  you  further  refine  with  whom  content  is  shared  
  9. 9. Sharing  content  can  also  take  place  on  an  individual  item  
  10. 10. Hovering  over  the  Share  link  describes  what  will  happen  
  11. 11. Clicking  on  share  will  bring  up  a  text  box  and  the  op5on  to  share  this  out  to  others  
  12. 12. Privacy  seUngs  can  be  accessed  in  the  upper  right  corner  of  your  screen  
  13. 13. Default  seUngs  shown  here  
  14. 14. Selec5ng  Custom  will  give  you  more  control  over  how  you  share  
  15. 15. Lists  also  help  you  determine  who  can  see  your  content,  and  what  content  you  want  to  see  
  16. 16. Selec5ng  lists  will  bring  up  “smart”  lists  created  by  Facebook,  based  on  informa5on  in  your  profile  
  17. 17. Selec5ng  a  list  will  give  you  the  ability  to  determine  who  should  be  in  that  list  
  18. 18. AXer  determining  who  is  in  the  list,  you  will  now  be  able  to  see  their  content  that  is  shared  with  you  
  19. 19. If  you  share  content  in  this  list  view,  it  defaults  to  only  sharing  content  to  the  people  in  this  list  
  20. 20. CONNECTING  WITH  OTHERS  
  21. 21. Search  for  people  in  the  Search  box  at  the  top  of  the  page  
  22. 22. Selec5ng  a  person  will  bring  up  their  profile*  *Note*  Facebook  announced  upcoming  changes  to  Profiles  so  the  profile  for  an  individual  will  look  very  different.    More  details  at  h[ps://www.facebook.com/about/5meline  
  23. 23. If  you  view  your  own  profile  by  clicking  on  your  name,  you  can  see  how  others  see  your  profile
