  5. 5. Background of GCM Professionals <ul><li>The minimum requirement for membership in NAPGCM is a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Nursing or a related field. Registered Nurses without a Bachelors degree can be members as well. </li></ul><ul><li>Members must be engaged in direct practice, administration or supervision of client-centered services to the elderly and their family </li></ul><ul><li>Members must have supervised experience in the field of gerontology. </li></ul><ul><li>There are Certification Programs for Geriatric Care Managers. </li></ul>

Gives families peace of mind. </li></ul><ul><li>Working with a GCM assists in resolving family conflict. </li></ul><ul><li>The GCM knows resources and connects the elder and family to necessary services. </li></ul>

GCMs Have High Ethical Standards <ul><li>All NAPGCM members subscribe to the Standards of Practice. </li></ul><ul><li>There are 13 different standards to bring client centered, professional services to the public. </li></ul><ul><li>All NAPGCM members should give clients a copy of the pledge of ethics or list them in their brochure or on their website. </li></ul>

Many individuals say they do this work without the proper training. </li></ul>
