Para no perder estas ventajas, se deben seguir consolidando marcos regulatorios
estables que aseguren el desarrollo minero en el largo plazo, permitiendo la actividad
exploratoria y promoviendo mecanismos de financiamiento no sólo para la gran minería,
sino también para aquellos emprendimientos que por su tamaño resultan buenos
negocios, aunque a otra escala, como es el caso de las empresas juniors.
Actualmente hay en la región cientos de proyectos y prospectos mineros en distintas
etapas. Los Estados deben velar para que la gran mayoría de ellos lleguen a buen
puerto y se materialicen, beneficiando no sólo a sus accionistas, sino también a las
comunidades que los acogen.
Eventos como la Convención Anual de la PDAC canadiense o la Conferencia
Internacional de Exploraciones de Cesco (Chile) resultan excelentes oportunidades para
que la industria, comunidad y organismos reguladores conozcan las tendencias en
exploración y puedan debatir sobre ellas.
Foros como éstos son relevantes e ineludibles, ya que el progreso futuro de Latinoamérica
estará necesariamente ligado a la buena gestión de sus recursos naturales, en este
caso, minerales.

rence of Cesco Explorations (Chile) are excellent opportunities so that the industry,
community and regulatory agencies are aware of trends in exploration and can deba-
te them.
Forums like these are relevant and unavoidable, since Latin America’s future progress
will be necessarily linked to good management of natural resources, such as in this
case, minerals.
