  2. 2. Terms <ul><li>Second Industrial Revolution – a period of rapid growth in U.S. manufacturing in the late 1800’s. </li></ul><ul><li>Bessemer process – a way to manufacture steel quickly and cheaply by blasting hot air through melted iron to quickly remove impurities </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Patents – exclusive rights to make or sell inventions </li></ul><ul><li>Corporations – businesses that sell portions of ownership called stock shares </li></ul><ul><li>Vertical integration – ownership of business involved in each step of a manufacturing process </li></ul><ul><li>Horizontal integration – owning all business in a certain field </li></ul>
