Taking Your Library Career to the Next Level: Participating, Publishing, and Presenting

Professional development is important in most library settings in order to earn or maintain credentials. Academic librarians look for opportunities to earn tenure and special librarians look for ways to focus their training on a narrow subject area. Regardless of their reason for looking for professional development opportunities, librarians of all types will find satisfaction in contributing to the profession at a higher level. Participating in professional conversations and decision-making that impacts others in the field, and sharing knowledge through publishing and presenting, are great ways to become better librarians.

This presentation helps librarians get started, from establishing a brand and name recognition in their area of expertise to writing winning proposals for both publication and presentation. It covers how to conquer fears of public speaking, how to make presentations more dynamic, and recommends places to publish.

  7. 7. Commenting: Keep it Classy! None of Your Business December 26, 2010 5:19 pm As a librarian i am compelled to say that I am disgusted by your website. All books are good information. How dare you try to make a joke/terrible career out of someone’s book. You both suck. Your book not only contains plagerism but also is not accurate or makes for a good read. Can’t wait to see your book up on your own site. Do not email me a response. You should both be ashamed of yourself; no book is “awful” maybe to you be not to others. You are both dum idiot beer overdosing jerks!!!! I hope that all of the authors get together an sue you for blocking their book sells and for defermations. B*tches.
