General Electric(GE) Reverse innovation by Aviroop Banik,Rizvi Institutes of Management Studies,Bandra(W),Mumbai.

 1. 3. GE profit falls; GE Healthcare income down 20%
 2. 8. Siemens Agfa Philips MAQUET Toshiba. HP SONO7500 Competitors
 3. 11. General Electric Voluson 730 Ultrasound $75,000
 4. 12. So, is this the fault of the products from developed nation or is there something lies within our country (rural India)not capable to afford the product?

When the product enter into the developing country, here for example RURAL INDIA, the product suffers a turmoil in adapting into developing nation. It simply means that people in rural India are not capable financially to afford the product.

 5. 13. Why Globalisation is struggling in this ERA?

America went global after WW2.

They took their products to Europe and Japan.

Infact we call Global strategy as a thread which tied USA,Japan,Europe.

Glocalisation model work for that era coz the customer base in europe & japan is similar to customer base in the U.S.

Means you can take a product from U.S & adapted in Japan & europe Mkt.

what has happened In last 5 yrs that country like India there is an emerging middle class that also have the purchasing power.

But emerging middle class in India & china are fundamentally different as a customer base from the U.S,Europe & Japan.

Take for instance per capita income.

 6. 14.

RURAL INDIA

PER CAPITA INCOME

 7. 15. Innovation Reverse
 8. 16. What is Reverse Innovation? Historically, MNC developed New product in the developed countries & sell it to the emerging economy. Reverse innovation is just doing the opposite – It develop the products in the emerging markets (developing world) & sell it to the developed world.
 9. 18. Why Reverse Innovation? Glocalisation is still valid for rich countries, but where the customers are fundamentally different & have low per capita income Reverse Innovation is required from our view.
 10. 19.

Flash Back

 11. 20. Disappointment in India
 12. 21. Recommendation
 13. 23. How could Reverse Innovation in G.E coin more money in USA in Recession? Recommendation

U.S is undergoing a giant meltdown of market.

Spending more money in Healthcare becoming very expensive same like in developing countries.

There are 50-60 million americans who are uninsured.& the cost of healthcare is spirulling out of control. They also need Low cost & access like developing countries.

 14. 24. Recommendation
 15. 25. Maintaining Reverse Innovation in a long way. Recommendations
 16. 27. How to sell G.E Healthcare products to other Developing Nations in the same time?
 17. 28. Let us not work on the same problem in multiple countries mean a healthcare problem in rural india may be able to solve similar problem in rural china or rural africa. so we can designate china with a LGT there to develop a platform with some adaptations can go to other countries. Recommendation
 18. 29. so let us identify different platform developments & really designate the LGT in different countries. There may be particular advantage coz of engineering capability or customer sophistication that is some problem should be solved in India, some problem should be solved in Africa. Recommendation
 19. 30. Conclusion
 20. 31. Conclusion
