  2. 2. First, this is an archipelago and one Isle is Great Britain. It’s the eighth –largest island in the world. There are British, English, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish and other groups. They have the same administration and they are called the United Kingdom. It’s surrounded by over 1000 smaller islands and islets.
  3. 3. This main island is called England too and it has 9 administrative regions.
  4. 4. The second island is Ireland (independent country), it is a part of the British Isles but a fifth belongs to United Kingdom. The Irish don’ t like to be called British isles because they are confused with the English. Another name is Isles of North Atlantic.
