  • Hello everyone , today’s education has moved forward from top down to bottom up.Teachers are the facilitators and not saints on the stageOur presentation today is about the tools which will enable a PE teacher to be an effective felicitator.
  • Teachers have been reluctant to use these tech tools due to their ignorance about availability and application. Hence, this is an effort to present the tech tools for PE Teachers to educate our “digital natives” in their 21st century learning style.
  • * There are 5 smart reasons and categories tech tools could be placed in. # 1 Higher level of classroom activity –accurate feedback possibility.# 2 Collaboration # 3 Android and apple apps- Highly engaging # 4 Web-based learning and access # 5 Video Games powered tools .
  • As the name describes HRM measures heart rate using HR electrodes worn around the chestToday HRM are an effective tool to accurately measure the activity of the heart during PE.This is a tool we recommend PE teachers to motivate students intrinsically.
  • Best part about HRM is its ability to store the data .We can share the data electronically with the students , parents and admin.Data can be printed & analyzed by the students and teachers physically or online.
  • Digital video recording has opened up a highly effective way of enhancing learning in school. ( IF NEEDED DO NOT SAY THIS) PE is a subject in which a great deal of visual learning take place . Video taping provide clear visuals of performances and specific techniques Students can get specific visual feedback of there own movement through vidoe replay.
  • A Pedometer measures the distance that you move. PM can be an excellent tool for students to see how much have they moved during the PE lesson . As with HR monitors, students can set personal targets for potential improvements in each lesson.
  • Using Digital cameras , teachers and students can quickly take many pictures Digital cameras could be used in the same manner that video camera is used to improve motor learning. For example teacher and student could take pic of groups and individuals executing various stages of motor skills & then assess and analyze it for further improvement .
  • The ability to have several inputs into the same document via Google docs has fantastic uses within PE.Collaboration is a 21st century skill and Google doc. allows collaboration in and outside the classroom. For example , students and teachers can work on same document to create and evaluate a unit plan , activity , performance task or a blog .
  • Buzzword is a less known , but very effective ,yet simple alternate to Google Docs . Apart from the standard Google Doc features Buzzword offers a few key uses, for users of all levels. Buzzword lets you share documents with people, giving individuals varying levels of access, from comments to editing to just reading the document. We recommend this tool for differentiation and tearing while collaborating .
  • *As an educator, if collaboration is what you’re into, give Etherpad a good look.* Just click “Start New Pad” to get going. Share a link to the pad or send invitations by email.*As users come in, edit the text in real-time, changes automatically appear. Chat in the sidebar, highlight which user made a given change, save revisions to revert if a mistake is made.
  • If a teacher is not using the power of android and apple in a PE classroom , these days, they may end up depriving there students of some very effective and easy tech tools or apps (assome of you may know) which can empower them towards lifelong fitness. Android and apple are the two seperate OS which run on a smart phone or a I-pad kind of devise called tablet. Following next are some wonderful and very easy examples of applications which empowers the student and teachers to amplify the learning, , product and understanding of the subject.
  • *Full Fitness is a personal trainer type app that offers over 300 exercises all explained in detail with pictures, videos and written instructions. The exercises are sorted by body region, muscle target and the equipment needed.* Students can easily create their own exercise program or use one of the 20 built in programs to help them reach your goals. Full Fitness can also be used to track your food intake and body weight as well as schedule your workouts.* Full Fitness allows you to log your exercises, view progress graphs, and email or backup the results online.
  • RunKeeper: Simply go for a run/walk and your activity is recorded. The GPS technology and its easy-to-use interface tracks how faryou went, how long it took, what your pace was, how many calories you burned, andMore. On completion of the activity, the data is synced to the RunKeeper websitewhere one view’s a history of all the vital stats.
  • Geo-cashing, A worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure, leaves you runningaround and exercising without realizing. A geocache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook. Its location is shared online using GPS technology.Anyone with an iPhone or Android phone, can try to locate the geocache.
  • Movement and skill analysis is one of the essential aspects of PE .Traditionally it was tedious and very expensive , to set up a video labs and then generate reports. Now there are lots of apps out there for sports analysis and undoubtedly so. There are so many teams that are trying to gain the edge over oppositions and technology plays a huge part in this. We recommend PE teachers to use any of the many sports analysis apps like touch stat lite, coda and cricket coach for sports movement analysis and give instant oral and visual feedbacks to student.
  • Calorie Counter Pro keeps your food intake in check. Theapplication contains a database of over 300,000 foods, making it possible to monitoreverything you eat. Have your students use it to audit the school canteen to comeup with a selection of healthy alternatives.
  • Exergaming is the latest tech tool inducted in PE. Who do not like to play video games, anyways ?? Latest technology has enabled PE classroom to turn into a gaming console .World over schools are looking into setting up what they call “exergaming labs” where students use there limbs to control the functionality of the game on the screen . Of course budget allocation is the key .
  • * Nintando wii is one of the most popular portable exergaming product schools are procuring these days . Wii sports programs includes Wii Fit program as well. "This can be used to incorporate fitness to the whole class," . One example of Educational aspect of wee here is that students not only learn to play tennis, but also how to keep score.
