  2. 2. Overview <ul><li>Myspace is a social networking site that became very popular in 2006 till 2008 </li></ul><ul><li>HQ in Beverly Hills, California </li></ul><ul><li>Taken over by its main competitor, Facebook, in 2008 </li></ul>
  3. 3. History <ul><li>Employees of eUniverse with Friendster accounts saw potention in Friendster and took the more popular features and decided to make their own version. </li></ul><ul><li>Within 10 days the first form of Myspace was made </li></ul>

Purpose <ul><li>Myspace was originally created for the employees of eUniverse and it was a little contest between employees to see who could sign up the most people </li></ul><ul><li>With the site expanding within the company, the creators decided to make it a public social networking site </li></ul>
  5. 5. Purpose cont. <ul><li>Myspace is a social networking site, which means it is a place for people to socialize with other friends, post pictures, videos, and comments. </li></ul>

Negatives <ul><li>Because most Myspace pages are made by people with little HTML experience so they did not meet the criteria for valid HTML </li></ul><ul><li>Myspace had so many options of profile modification that sometimes viewing profiles became a strain on the eye because of the picture backgrounds and songs </li></ul>
  12. 12. Negatives cont. <ul><li>Some say that Myspace failed because it did not bring anything new to the site after it was created, whereas Facebook keeps making new things to keep users using </li></ul><ul><li>Child safety, such as sexual predators and cyber bullying. </li></ul>
