What is a Foley Artist? <ul><li>Foley Artistry requires you to recreate </li></ul><ul><li>sound effects for film, television and radio </li></ul><ul><li>productions on a Foley Stage in a Post </li></ul><ul><li>Production Studio. </li></ul><ul><li>Foley artist was first invented and </li></ul><ul><li>implemented by Jack Donovan Foley </li></ul><ul><li>who was a pioneer of film sound effects. </li></ul>

Three Main Elements (Tracks) in Foley Artistry. <ul><li>The 'Move' Track - a track </li></ul><ul><li>that records what a character is </li></ul><ul><li>wearing and what sound it can make </li></ul><ul><li>during a certain event or scen e . </li></ul><ul><li>The 'Feet' Track - the </li></ul><ul><li>reproduction of sound that is made </li></ul><ul><li>by actors when they walk on different </li></ul><ul><li>surfaces. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The specifics - Anything that is not a move track or a feet track is considered Specific. Anything an actor touches or effects is considered a specific. This recording involves many different layers of sound to recreate a certain element in the film. </li></ul>
  5. 5. New technologies with Foley <ul><li>Foley Artists of today are updated with new technologies. New recording programs, microphones and tricks of recreating sounds. Without the knowledge of sound production and recording, it would be extremely hard for a person to be a successful Foley Artist . </li></ul>
  6. 6. OH&S REQUIREMENTS <ul><li>The OH&S requirement would be a large list as Foley Artistry can be a very difficult and a dangerous job. Recreating sounds of someone running up a staircase in high heels for example could be dangerous. </li></ul>
