Meeting the Standards

  1. 1. Meeting the Standards NETS-S and Performance Standards for students grades 3-5 Ashley Lieber
  2. 2. 2. Use digital-imaging technology to modify or create works of art for use in a digital presentation. (1,2,6) <ul><li>An idea to meet this standard: </li></ul><ul><li>Students will first write a story as a class. </li></ul><ul><li>They will then take draw pictures to illustrate the story. </li></ul><ul><li>We will scan those images on to the computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Finally we will create a digital story book using a slide-show editor such as PowerPoint. </li></ul>
  3. 3. 3. Recognize bias in digital resources while researching an environmental issue with guidance from the teacher. (3,4) <ul><li>An idea to meet this standard: </li></ul><ul><li>During a science lesson I will have students do online research about an environmental issue related to the science subject under study. </li></ul><ul><li>After they have complied their resources we will recognize and discuss the bias in their articles (they will have already learned about bias in writing). </li></ul>

Identify and investigate a global issue and generate possible solutions using digital tools and resources (3,4) <ul><li>An idea to meet this standard: </li></ul><ul><li>As a class we will learn about the today’s many global issues. </li></ul><ul><li>I will provide web resources for students to investigate these issues. </li></ul><ul><li>They will be grouped together to discuss possible solutions and begin researching solutions. </li></ul><ul><li>Using Google Docs students will collaborate and edit their finds which will be turned into me via their class blogs. </li></ul>
  5. 5. 9. Debate the effect of existing and emerging technologies on individuals, society, and the global community. (5,6) <ul><li>An idea to meet this standard: </li></ul><ul><li>First I will show a PowerPoint with text and images that explain what technology was like 100 years ago to what it has developed into today. </li></ul><ul><li>We will then have a class discussion about how these changes affect each person, the society, and the world. </li></ul>
