Why does HyperXite levitate? HYPERXITE IS F.A.S.T.Future of Affordable and Sustainable Transport Dear Friend, Thank you very much for your interest in our project. HyperXite is a dedicated team of 40 UC Irvine students working to revolutionize transportation. Our mission is to accelerate the development of a full scale Hyperloop. The Hyperloop, first proposed in 2013 by Elon Musk, will become the fifth mode of transportation. Hyperxite is the Future of Affordable and Sustainable Transport. It will carry people and freight between cities at speeds approaching 760 mph. Our efficient and inexpensive system will be solar powered and will not release any greenhouse gasses. Imagine working in Los Angeles and less than an hour later taking your lunch break in San Francisco! We are participating in the first annual SpaceX hosted Hyperloop Pod Competition. Hundreds of universities from 27 countries entered this competition. After eight months of hard work and two extensive design reviews, thirty teams have advanced to the final phase of the competition. UC Irvine’s HyperXite received a Design Excellence award and is ranked 5th place for overall design quality. Our design will be open source after the competition; allowing for rapid innovation. HyperXite is able to go above and beyond the scope of typical senior design projects with the help of our partners, like you, who have provided us with funding, in kind services, products, and mentorship. Our project has helped students bridge the gap between academia and industry by giving students experience in state of the art design, simulation, manufacturing, and testing. I was about an hour late for a talk and I was thinking, Man there’s got to be a better way to get around”. According to Musk, “You could live in one city and work in another city...It gives people more freedom”. Construction Hyperloop Technologies, Inc, one of two companies commercially developing the Hyperloop, has pledged one hundred thousand dollars in sponsorship funds for the SpaceX hosted competition. Students, and the international community are innovating and collaborating toward a singular goal. Our pod levitates on a cushion of compressed air 01 Pusher Interface Transmits the acceleration forces from the pusher through the structure 02 Suspension Dampens vibrations and retracts instantaneously 03 Air Tanks Act as a ‘black box’ for the compressor supplying air for levitation 04 Braking Magnetic field is induced in the sub- track and are contact free to reduce maintenance 05 Wheels Transport pod easily outside of the tube Throughout our design process we focused on simplicity, safety and feasibility. Our pod levitates on a cushion of compressed air 06 Controls System Triconex Tri-GP Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) allows the pod to be fully automomous 07 Fuselage Streamlined shape to reduce drag 08 Piping System Regulates pressure, temperature, and mass flow of the air supplied to levitation 09 Structure Made of composite materials and consists of a strong inner core 10 Levitation Functions like a hovercracft and is optimized using computer modeling Streamlined for speed Teams participating in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition are building half scale pods to complete a 1 mile journey down a tube in Los Angeles, CA. 03 04 05 06 09 08 07 10 Aerospace grade carbon fiber is used to create the lightweight streamlined body of the pod.

Construction The graphic element is constructed using concentric circles, refining a strong, bold approach. The typographic element is designed to complement and enhance the logo graphic. Existing in harmony, it neither dominates or becomes insignificant. The supporting typeface and collateral are clean and minimalist to reinforce our identity as a quality, professional organization.
