  6. 6. Architecture A large number of engineering colleges are offering B.Tech./B.E. degree courses but the colleges offering architecture degree course are comparatively very less. More than 19 lakhs engineers are produced every year. Only 49 thousand architects are registered in the country till December 2015. There is an estimated shortage of 7 lakh architects in the country. With expanding global economies, rising incomes, mass migration of people from rural to urban areas as a result of mass transport systems available, the demand on architecture has increased manifolds.

  8. 8. Architecture Schools Presently the number of schools offering five years B. Arch. Degree course in the country are 458 [as on 7th October 2016] and admission to the course in all schools of architecture is compulsorily through aptitude tests. The syllabus and pattern of the tests are prescribed by Council of Architecture.

  10. 10. JEE-B.Arch. (2 April 2017) The JEE (formerly AIEEE) is an all India level entrance examination for both engineering/architecture streams. It comprises of separate question patterns and structure for both the streams. The JEE pattern for B. Arch/B. Planning comprises of three important parts, part 1 consists of questions from mathematics and part 2 consists of aptitude type questions and part 3 consists of drawing and sketching. It includes questions in testing the students’ attitudes regarding people, place and environment. It is a 3 hours examination and it is usually conducted at the end of 12th standard examination. It is conducted by CBSE in India.

Syllabus for Aptitude Test – J.E.E.(B.Arch.) 2017 (B.Arch/ B.Planning) The topics you should be preparing for the Aptitude Test of J.E.E.(B.Arch.) 2017 (B.Arch/ B.Planning) Part – I Questions from Mathematics Part - II Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials.) Objects, Texture related to Architecture and built environment. Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings. Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects. Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal). Three dimensional - perception: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms and elements, colour, texture, harmony and contrast. Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil. Transformation of forms both 2 D and 3 D union, subtraction, rotation, development of surfaces and volumes, Generation of Plan, elevations and 3 D views of objects.

Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urban-scape (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreational spaces etc.), landscape (river fronts, jungles. gardens, trees, plants etc.) and rural life.

NATA What you need to Know •NATA: National Aptitude Test in Architecture •National stage exam for admission to undergraduate courses in Architecture (B.Arch) •NATA is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) which is a body of Council of Architecture,New Delhi. •NATA is without doubt the most significant and mandatory exam for architecture aspirants.

NATA National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is being conducted by CoA, at national level, to provide a single window system for appearing in aptitude test to students and institutions for admission to 1st year of 5-year B.Arch Degree Course at all approved Institutions all over country. The purpose of conducting NATA is to provide a single scheme of examination for holding aptitude test and to facilitate prospective students all over the country to apply for admissions in architectural institutional in the country. However, actual admissions shall be carried out only by the concerned designated authorities of the respective states/ institutions based on NATA. © Global Academy of Vaastu and Design

NATA was introduced by the Council to mitigate the burden of students all over the country who were made to appear for different Aptitude Tests in different states for admission to 5- year B.Arch. degree course. NATA also ensures that the eligibility criteria for admission to five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree course, as stipulated in the Regulations by CoA and duly approved by the Central Government, are strictly adhered to and followed all over the country in Architectural Institutions. The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, Mathematics and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to the specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. © Global Academy of Vaastu and Design

The Council after carefully considering the various suggestions, anomalies regarding conduct of NATA in the past, in order to further improve and strengthen the conduct of exam, and to attract bright students into studying Architecture, has decided to conduct NATA as a one day examination (Pencil & Paper based) all over the country on similar lines with other national level entrance exams all over the country. NATA-2017 for the academic session 2017-2018 shall be conducted as one-day examination (offline) all over the country on 16.04.2017 (Sunday). © Global Academy of Vaastu and Design

  19. 19. The Candidates should have passed class 12th with Mathematics as a subject or done diploma from a recognised institute/university/board with at least 50% aggregate marks in l2th/diploma. OR The Candidates with International Baccalaureate Diploma having 50% aggregate marks and Maths as a subject can also apply.
