Thirst of Kalidasan Kalidasa was a great ancient poet of India. പൗരാണിക ഭാരതത്തിലെ ഒരു മഹാനായ കവിയും നാടകകൃത്തുമായിരുന്നു സംസ്കൃത കവിയായ കാളിദാസൻ. His plays and poems are primarily based on the Vedas and the great epics of India like Ramayana and Mahabharata. വേദങ്ങൾ, ഇതിഹാസങ്ങൾ, പുരാണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയിൽ നിന്നാണ് കാളിദാസൻ തന്റെ രചനകൾക്ക് വേണ്ടുന്ന ഇതിവൃത്തം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരുന്നത്. He drew his inspiration from the Puranas too. രാമായണം, മഹാഭാരതം പോലുള്ള ഭാരതീയ പുരാണങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രചോദനം ഉൾക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. - 9. Kalidasa loved to travel to distant places. കാളിദാസൻ ഒരു സഞ്ചാരപ്പിയനായിരുന്നു.
- 10. For six months he used to stay with the King and for the next six months he will travel throughout the country. ആെു മാസം അവേഹം വിപ്കമാദിതയ രാജധാനിയിൽ വസിക്കും, പിറന്ന ആെു മാസം ഉെകം ചുറ്റാൻ വപാകും.
- 11. Once, during one of his long journeys, he felt an irresistible thirst and was searching for drinking water. കാളിദാസൻ തൻറെ അവനകം യാപ്തകൾക്കിടയിറൊരി ക്കൽ ദാഹിച്ചു വെെ് ചുറ്റും റവള്ളമവനവഷിിച്ചു.
- 12. He found a woman fetching water from the well nearby. He approached her and asked for some water. അകറെയെൊറത ഒരു സ്പ്തീ കിണറ്റിൽ നിന്ന് റവള്ളം വകാരുന്നത് കണ്ട അവേഹം അവളുറട പക്കൽ റചന്ന് കുെച്ചു റവള്ളം വചാദിച്ചു .
- 13. She agreed to give him water. അവൾ റവള്ളം റകാടുക്കാറമന്ന് സമ്മതിച്ചു .
- 14. But before that why don't you introduce yourself; she requested. അതിന് മുൻപ് ഒന്ന് പ രിചയറപ്പടുത്തൂ ! അ വൾ ആവശ്യറപ്പട്ടു.
- 15. Kalidasa thought this is an ordinary village woman. He should not reveal he is a great poet and his name is Kalidasa. അവേഹം കരുതി, ഒരു സാ ധാരണ പ്ഗാമീണ യുവതി കാളിദാസൻ ആരാറണന്ന് അെിവയണ്ടതിെെ .
- 16. So he told, I am just a wayfarer. ഞാറനാരു വഴിയാപ്തക്കാരൻ മാപ്തം. അവേഹം പെെു.
- 17. She replied: In the whole of this world there are only two wayfarers, one is the Sun and the other is the Moon. They rise and shine in the sky regularly and set everyday like that. She told him very pleasingly. ഈ വൊകത്തിൽ ആറക രണ്ടു യാപ്തക്കാറര ഉള്ളൂ . സൂരയനും, ചപ്രനും . രണ്ടും നിതയവും, കൃതയമായി ഉദിക്കുകയും അ സ്തമിക്കുകയും റചയ്തുറകാ ണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു . അവൾ ചിരിച്ചു റകാണ്ട് പെെു .
- 18. So, you are not that, then who actually are you? അവർ അെെ നിങ്ങൾ; അവപ്പാൾ പിറന്ന താങ്കളാരാണ്? യുവതി വചാദിച്ചു.
- 19. Okay, you're right, then I am a guest. Kalidasa told the women. ശ്രി ! എങ്കിൽ ഞാറനാരു അതിഥിയാണ്. കാളിദാസൻ പെെു .
- 20. Youth and wealth are the only two guests in this earthly life. They both come and go, they never stay with anyone forever. They only can be considered as guests, who actually are you? യുവതവവും സമ്പത്തുമാണ് ഈ ഭൂമിയിറെ രവണ്ട രണ്ട് അതിഥികൾ . രണ്ടും ശ്ാശ്വതമെെ . അതുറകാണ്ട് അവറയ മാപ്തം നമുക്ക് അതിഥികൾ എന്ന് വിളിക്കാം.
- 21. I am only a patient individual, he then said to the woman. എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ സഹനശ്ീെനായ ഒരു വയക്തിറയന്ന് കാളിദാസൻ.
- 22. The woman continued. In this world, there are only two patient persons. One of those two patient persons is Earth and the second is the tree. They bear everything without any complaints even if you walk over earth any number of time. Similarly, even if you stone the tree it bears it patiently and gives its fruit and shade. They both provide you with food and shelter even if you hurt them. They patiently bear all your tortures.
- 23. യുവതി : ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽ സഹനശ്ീെരായി രണ്ടു വപറരയുള്ളൂ . ഒന്നാമവത്തത് ഭൂമി , രണ്ടാമവത്തത് വൃക്ഷം . നിങ്ങൾ ഭൂമിറയ എപ്ത ചവിട്ടി വനാവിച്ചാെും, മരത്തിൽ എപ്ത കറെെെിൊെും അവ സഹിക്കുന്നു . മാപ്തമെെ , നിങ്ങറള നിെനിർത്തുവാനുള്ള ഫെങ്ങളും, ധാനയവും അവ പുെറപ്പടുവിക്കുകയും റചയ്യുന്നു .
- 24. On hearing this Kalidasan was a little surprised. He told her that he then is a stubborn adamant person. കാളിദാസൻ ആറക അമ്പരന്നു . അവേഹം ഇപ്പകാരം പെെു : എന്നാൽ ഞാറനാരു മർക്കടമു ഷ്ടിയാണ്, ഒരു ദുർവാശ്ിക്കാരൻ .
- 25. There are only two stubborn things on this earth. One is the nail and the other is the hair. However short you cut them they will grow back all the time. The women told him. അങ്ങറന ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമു ള്ള രണ്ടു വസ്തുക്ക വളയുള്ളൂ . നഖവും, മുടിയും . രണ്ടും എപ്ത റവട്ടിയാെും വളർ ന്നു റകാണ്ടിരിക്കും . യുവതി പെെു . - 26. Kalidasan has been calm till now and he became restless and he lost all his controls when he heard this. ഇപ്തയും സമയം ശ്ാന്തത കകവിടാതിരുന്ന കാളിദാസന് വദഷിയം വന്നു . അവേഹത്തിൻ റെ സർവ നിയപ്തണങ്ങളും വിട്ട വപാറെ വതാന്നി.
- 27. Kalidasan told if so I am a fool. അവേഹം പെെു : എങ്കിൽ ഞാറനാരു വിഡ്ഢിയാണ്!
- 28. The woman started to laugh out loudly. She continued; there are only two fools in this world. The ignorant person who sits in the throne of a country and the minister who praises his rule for every foolishness he commits. അവപ്പാൾ ഉെറക്ക ചിരിച്ചുറകാണ്ടവൾ പെെു : രണ്ടു വിഡ്ഢികൾ മാപ്തവമ ഈ വൊകത്തിെുള്ളൂ .. അെിവിെൊറത ഭരിക്കുന്ന രാജാവും അതുവപാറൊരു നിർഗുണനായ രാജാവിന് സ്തുതിപാടുന്ന മപ്ന്തിയും .
- 29. By the time Kalidasan understood this lady is more intelligent than him. There is no point in arguing with her. കാളിദാസന് മനസിൊയി അവൾ തറന്ന സാമർഥയത്തി െും , ബുദ്ധിയിെും പിെകി ൊക്കിറയന്ന്. അവളുമായി ഒരു വാഗ്വാദം ശ്രിയറെെന്നും വതാന്നി.
- 30. Kalidasan fell at her feet seeking forgiveness. അവേഹം അവളുറട കാൽക്കൽ വീണു, ക്ഷമയവപക്ഷിച്ചു.
- 31. തെ ഉയർത്തി വനാക്കിയവപ്പാൾ അവേഹം കണ്ടത് സരസവതിവദവി മുന്നിൽ നിൽക്കുന്നതാണ്. When he raised his head and looked at this lady he saw that lady was Goddess Saraswati herself.
- 32. The Goddess of knowledge and wisdom told Kalidasan. Hey, Kalidasan you are really intelligent. Even then, only when you realise who you are, you become a real human being; if you can't realise what Atma is, you never attain the peak of human life. അെിവിന്റെയും ബുദ്ധിയുറടയും വദവി കാളിദാസവനാട് പെെു: കാളിദാസാ, നീ ബുദ്ധിമാനാണ. എങ്കിെും, നീ നിറന്നത്തറന്ന തിരിച്ചെിയുവമ്പാൾ മാപ്തവമ, നീറയാരു മനുഷിയനാകുകയുള്ളൂ. ആത്മജ്ഞാനമിെൊത്തവൻ ഒരിക്കെും മനുഷിയതവത്തിന്റെ പരമകാഷ്ഠ് പ്പാപിക്കുന്നിെെ.
- 33. After completing this story thus the Rishi told, hey children, we must learn first to be human beings. You must realise who you are, what are your potentials. When you realise who you are, you become good human beings. ഈ കഥ പെെതിന് വശ്ഷിം ഗുരു ഇപ്പകാരം റമാഴിെു : കുട്ടികറള ആദയം മനുഷിയരാകാൻ പഠ്ിപ്പിക്കണം . സവയം തിരിച്ചെിൊറെ അവർ നന്മയുള്ളവരാകൂ.
- 34. When you compete with each other to gain wealth, more wealth than others, become rich and enjoy all the worldly pleasures you become more and more selfish. You will become irrelevant and not useful to yourself and anyone else. സമ്പന്നരാകാനും , പണം സമ്പാദിക്കാനും, മറ്റുള്ളവറര വതാൽപ്പിച്ചു മുവന്നൊനും മാപ്തം പഠ്ിപ്പിക്കുവമ്പാൾ അവർ സവാർത്ഥരും, മനുഷിയർക്ക് പ്പവയാജനമിെൊ ത്തവരും ആയി മാെും.
- 35. Be kind, be compassionate, be passionate about virtues of life, and lead a sublime life. ദയ ഉള്ളവരാകൂ, ദീനാനുകമ്പ ഉള്ളവരാകൂ, തന്നത്താൻ അെിയൂ, സാതവികജീവിതം നയിക്കൂ. വിജയം കകവരിക്കൂ; ഇവിറടയും; എവിറടയും.
