Where is Preston? <ul><li>Preston is a city, in the county (region) of Lancashire , in North West England. </li></ul><ul><li>Preston is a small city, and there is a population of 130,000 people. </li></ul><ul><li>In Preston, their is a river which is called the River Ribble . </li></ul><ul><li>There is a lot of industry in Preston, but also, a lot of green, open spaces. </li></ul><ul><li>The weather is quite cold in Preston, and it rains a lot, but it is sunny and warm in summer. </li></ul>

Are there any monuments? <ul><li>There are lots of places you can visit in Preston, including: </li></ul><ul><li>The Harris Museum and Art Gallery </li></ul><ul><li>The National Football Museum </li></ul><ul><li>The Museum of Lancashire </li></ul><ul><li>The Railyway Museum </li></ul><ul><li>The Town Hall </li></ul><ul><li>St Walburge’s Church </li></ul><ul><li>There is also a lot of beautiful architecture in the city. </li></ul>

What activities can you do? <ul><li>There are lots of things to do in the city: </li></ul><ul><li>There are 2 Bowling Alleys . </li></ul><ul><li>There are also 2 cinemas . </li></ul><ul><li>There is the Guild Hall Theatre , where you can watch plays and music concerts. </li></ul><ul><li>There are lots of Sports Centres , where you can swim, workout in the gym and play sports. </li></ul><ul><li>There are lots of bars, restaurants and discos to visit at night time. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a go-kart track where you can drive go-karts. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a skateboard park for skaters. </li></ul><ul><li>There are lots of lakes and ponds to go fishing in. </li></ul>

Where can you go to buy things? <ul><li>There are lots of places you can go shopping in preston. </li></ul><ul><li>The Fishergate Shopping Centre </li></ul><ul><li>The Miller Arcade Shopping Centre </li></ul><ul><li>The Mall Shopping Centre </li></ul><ul><li>Preston Central Market </li></ul><ul><li>There are lots of popular English shops , such as Debenhams, Marks and Spencers, TopShop and River Island. </li></ul><ul><li>There are also lots of small, independant shops which sell traditional English items. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Preston’s Teams <ul><li>Sport is very important to the people in Preston. </li></ul><ul><li>The city’s football club is called: Preston North End (my team!) </li></ul><ul><li>There is also a rugby team called: Preston Grasshoppers </li></ul>
  8. 8. Food, glorious food! <ul><li>There are lots of delicious, typical English foods and drinks you can eat and drink in Preston: </li></ul>

Food and Drink <ul><li>Some typical foods include: </li></ul><ul><li>Fish and Chips </li></ul><ul><li>Sausages and Mashed Potatoes (Bangers and Mash) </li></ul><ul><li>Shepherd’s Pie </li></ul><ul><li>Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding </li></ul><ul><li>Toad-in-the-hole </li></ul><ul><li>Tea and scones </li></ul><ul><li>Cheese- the most popular English cheese is Cheddar, but there over 450 varieties of cheese. </li></ul><ul><li>Bitter (a type of English beer) </li></ul>
  10. 10. Don’t forget the pub! <ul><li>A special kind of English bar is called a Pub. </li></ul><ul><li>You can go there to enjoy English food and drink. </li></ul><ul><li>You can also play ´pub games´, like darts and pool, and take part in a pub quiz. </li></ul>
