11. 11. 3. Our Core Values

The quality of our system begins with the quality of our teachers .

(Flexibility, Capacity, Collaboration, Equity).

Better student learning outcomes through the continuous refinement of instructional best-practices with a special focus on coaching and collaboration. Literacy proficiency has the highest priority!

Each child WILL succeed no matter the obstacle.

 12. 12.

Teaching in different locations (i.e. benchmark literacy students in alcoves, intensive students in classrooms)

Periodic scheduling changes, based on data in real-time

Flexible grouping/regrouping students based on data in real-time.

Staff and resources are allocated based on students' needs, using multiple specific measures.

AHP Staff Attributes Flexibility The ability to accept periodic changes based on student needs.
 13. 13.

Student and adult learning is the WORK here.

Each staff member plays a distinct role, which contributes to the overall success of the building.

Direct, explicit instruction, focused on modeling.

Constant coaching, observation with respectful and constructive feedback.

The building-wide use of research based instructional programs and practices.

AHP Staff Attributes Capacity The ability and willingness to learn Aloha-Huber Park's systems for accelerating student learning at all levels of performance.
 14. 14.

We are organized into teams, not homerooms.

Teachers share all students.

Students receive instruction based on their level of performance. This means that teachers work with several different groups of students throughout the day, not just with their own homeroom.

We constantly share, listen, and make decisions about kids based on data as a cross-sectioned team of teachers, specialists and administrators.

Team planning meetings every week and topic-specific collaboration approximately every month.

As educators, we are transparent with data, teacher practice, and observation.

Collaboration The ability to thrive as a team player, across all grade levels and departments. AHP Staff Attributes
 15. 15.

We are Growth Model: We take each student from their current performance level, and accelerate their learning to meet their individual achievement goals.

Decisions are made based on what is best for students, not necessarily what is best for staff.

The use of data and established Decision Rules are used to govern the integrity of our services to our students.

AHP Staff Attributes Equity The willingness to be pushed out of the comfort zone to address individual student needs.
 16. 16. Whatever it takes! … "We will take you where you are, and we will teach you. And the extent to which we fail is our failure, not yours. We will not cop out by saying, “He can’t learn”. Rather we will say, “I failed to teach him. So I better take a good look at what I did and try to figure out a better way”. --Siegfried Engelmann (Director of the National Institute for Direct Instruction)
