Characteristics of today’s learners – the millennials are different from other generations because of the professor ideal characteristics, they prefer not to use multimedia, fewer lectures and less student collaboration.
Today’s Learners- the Millennials prefers a learning environment that is not formal.

Characteristics of Today’s Learners- the Millennials prefer several different learning activities in their environments. Active learning skills which includes: listening, short writing and group assignments (Faust & Paulson, nd).

Formal learning is conducted by instructors and teachers at a educational institution whether locally or online. Informal learning is conducted by the learner and is done mostly at the location he learner identifies(Jahnke, 2012).

Instant messaging is a form of communication that can be done between co-worker assisting with problems and solutions while at the location. SharePoint is a communicate website that can be used to share company information between a team, this website may consist of solutions to problems that others have already experienced. These communication tools are effective technology that can be used to create a formal learning experience (Jahnke, 2012).
The following technology can be used for formal learning. Live Chat allows fast communicate between people to get quick answers to question and comments or just to share. This is a great tool that is used for help on ordering sites and for troubleshooting problems(Jahnke, 2012).

From the research and growing technologies the learning environments can be affected in positive ways with the proper training and use of the informal and formal technology. Social learning is powerful and some organizations use this technology currently. More organization is moving toward social learning, saving time and money, online communication is effective and fast (Jahnke, 2012).
Using sources from the AIU Online Library, online social networks classrooms are designed for learning. With the correct training and guidance social networking is effective learning. Social networking sites are used to conduct study groups with college students as well as elementary and high school students. In schools today social networks are becoming a tool that is important. It has been said that shared learning experiences can go beyond the classroom boundaries using social networks (Casey & Evans, 2011).
