RED RIDGE REGIONAL CAPACITY PHILANTHROPY - Leverage Red Ridge (Interior Queensland) Regional arts organisation providing a platform to grow arts and cultural activities Red Ridge Foundation Public Fund - accepts public funds and holds in trust for community projects TCC Status = Tax Concession Charity DGR Status = ATO endorsed Item 1 (Doing Foundation to accept funds and do projects) Build Regional Capacity with community partnerships leveraging government, private and corporate support
  25. 25. Philanthropy / Government / Community Partnerships LEVERAGE There are two main kinds of DGRs: Item 1 DGRs, known informally as ‘doing’ DGRs. These are the organisations which carry out the hands-on work – Red Ridge is endorsed with Item 1 as a doing Foundation Item 2 DGRs known informally as ‘giving’ DGRs – which have no purpose other than to make or collect money in order to give it away. Giving Foundations (ATO endorsed Item 2) give to Doing Foundations (ATO endorsed Item 1) to do the work and deliver projects Red Ridge Foundation is a doing Foundation (Item 1) and receive funds to help deliver community and regional projects

FINANCIAL AND TAX • People look for a tax deduction to pay less tax • Community investment rather than tax investment 2. PERSONAL • People want to see community projects grow rather than pay tax • Passionate about a personal cause
