Standard and Custom Objects Overview ● Object - record - field == Table - row - column ● We can say = Object is a table containing individual records-rows with their fields/properties in columns ● Standard objects native in Salesforce ● Custom objects when standard cannot be used ● Remember not to try invent the wheel again!

Master-Detail Relationship (one-to-many) ● Parent - Child closely tight relationship ● Cascade deletion (if parent deleted -> all child records are deleted) ● Child security and sharing inherited from Parent ● Standard object cannot be on Detail(Child) side of relationship ● To avoid Data Skew: 10,000 maximum number of child records ● Up to 3 detail (child) levels ● Roll-up summary fields allowed (max 10 per object) 2. Lookup Relationship (one-to-many) ● Linking two different objects together loosely ● Cascade deletion not possible ● Security and sharing are independent ● Cannot delete lookup object if there are more than 100,000 links ● Use lookup filters to limit search results for users 3. Many-to-many Relationship ● Established via auxiliary Junction object with 2 M-D/Lookup relationships ● Inherits sharing from both Masters
