11 Media Studies Costume

 1. 1. Misc en scene: Costume (Initial costume)
We got our actress to dress herself up in a black dress at first, because we believed that it was a typical convention of an RnB video. Wearing revealing clothing also made her more seductive, this was done in order to catch the attention of the audience. In the beginning we wanted our actress to wear this but it did not really reflect on the first location that we choose, which was out doors in the day light.
32004004273550-345440461835501619250I believe that the black dress would of worked to a certain extent due to the fact that it makes it a more of an RnB video and it is also unique and different which RnB artists mostly do. To Illustrate in Beyonces video ‘Crazy in love’ she is seen strutting down the street in the open daylight wearing revealing clothing. Therefore this would have worked with our music video and still of been a typical representation of an RnB video.
Beyonce – Crazy in loveeThe gold chain also represents the common stereotype of an R&B video with the big chains.
These high heels shoes where also going to be chosen, but never ended up being part of the costume. High heels usually give the impression of a sophisticated woman. The reason for this was because they weren’t practical for our music video due to the fact that she would be dancing in them. However initially we were going to use them to shoot the scene of a performance and it was this scene where the shoes would of fitted perfectly with the rest of the costume at that time.
