Automatic Pools Covers

  1. 1. Building Swimming Pool Maintenance Building your own swimming pool can be a considerable huge investment. To protect your investment, you need to keep it maintained so you can make the most of it and avoid problems that cost big bucks later on. To do this, it's best to follow a regular swimming pool maintenance guide so you make sure you can do the necessary tasks on schedule. A good swimming pool maintenance guide covers not just the care of your pool, but also the necessary adjustments to the water chemistry to keep it safe for swimming. It's difficult to keep kids out of the pool, especially in the summer months, and you do not want them to swim in contaminated pool water.
  2. 2. Guideslines for Swimming Pool Maintenance of Pool Water  Chlorine Level - This should not fall under 1ppm or germs and algae will start to grow in your pool. The ideal level is between 1 and 3ppm. It is best to check this every day. It is also advised to shock your pool once a week to break down organic pollution. A shock means bringing your chlorine levels between 6 and 10ppm.  pH Level - Ideal reading is between 7.2 and 7.6. This should also be checked every day. If the pH goes above 7.8, you will have a scale buildup, which will lead to problems in your filter and also affect the efficiency of your chlorine. A low pH, on the other hand, will corrode your pipes and rapidly consume the residual chlorine present in the water. Other water properties to check are the calcium and alkalinity levels. Alkalinity affects the pH of the water and calcium affects the hardness. A high PPM of calcium leads to cloudy water. You can adjust all of these with chemical testers, just be careful about handling them. Rule of thumb is to add chemicals to water, not the other way around.
  3. 3. Your TA essentially acts as a buffer for the pH to prevent wild and extreme swings in the amount or strength of hydrogen in your swimming pool water. Your pH level should be between 7.4-7.8. Any higher or lower than that can lead to the water irritating your skin, calcium buildup in your piping as well as along the water line and can prematurely corrode your swimming pool equipment. It can lead to damaged o-rings and if you have a heater, it can cause internal damage to that as well. Test and take corrective action on your water chemistry on a weekly basis for proper swimming pool maintenance. Follow these 3 essential steps for sparkling swimming pool water that will have your friends, family and neighbors rendered speechless when they see your stunningly beautiful oasis!
