(See your textbook for more details and examples.) Use a comma and a coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so): I like pizza, but I try not to eat too much of it. Use a semicolon (;): Please don’t pinch the baby; he’ll cry. Use a semicolon and a conjunctive adverb (like afterward, also, as a result, in addition, then, or therefore): I ate too much pizza; as a result, I felt ill.
