There is real progress only if it ensures sustainable development and harmony with the world It is 'real sustainability' only if it meets three FUNDAMENTAL CONSTRAINTS THE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE CREATION OF AN ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING •It meets the needs of society •It respects the environment •It creates economic value • Packaging is a value, pollution is the result of its improper management/design. • Packaging is a value for the society only if in harmony with the concepts of environmental sustainability. • Sustainability is achieved through an effective technological development and innovation throughout the entire supply chain. • The help from all those involved in the process is needed, non one excepted 3
  4. 4. Bio-plastics are an excellent example of eco-friendly packaging Bio-plastics are an excellent response to the need for sustainable packaging. They are used in many successful applications (e.g. recyclable shoppers...).
