A high percentage of produced Fiber Glass is used for the reinforcement of plastics. The main products are Mats, Rovings, Woven Rovings, Yarns etc. These products are mostly in wind mill blades, automotive parts, pipes and tanks, boats, furniture, helmets etc. Main driver of the Glass Fiber industry are the wind energy and the automotive segment, which account together for more than 50% of domestic Glass Fiber demand.
The Fiber Glass produced in India is E-Glass. Presently major share of Indian demand is produced locally by two companies. Nevertheless Indian Fiber Glass industry heavily depends on imports due to shortage in domestic supply.
Although the Indian Fiber Glass market is relatively small, compared to per capita consumption in other countries (e.g. China, USA), it is expected that the Indian industry grow at a very healthy growth rate.
