Primary project comunidad de Madrid. Poputlation. Migration in the world and in Spain. Bilingual school.Factors that make population change. 5th grade primary
2. Firstly, we have to consider the factors
that make population increase. They
are:
- Births
- Immigration
3. Then, we have to consider the factors
that make population decrease. They
are:
- Deaths
- Emigration
4. NATURAL INCREASE
It is the difference between the number of
births and the number of deaths.
It can be POSITIVE if the number of births is
higher than the number of deaths.
It can be NEGATIVE if the number of deaths is
higher than the number of births.
5. ACTUAL INCREASE (CRECIMIENTO ACTUAL)
We take the NATURAL INCREASE. Then we add the
number of immigrants and we substract the number of
emigrants.

AND DEATHS)

6. POPULATION DENSITY (DENSIDAD
DE POBLACIÓN)
It is the number of inhabitants in every
square kilometre that lives in an area.
To calculate this, we divide the number
of inhabitants by the number of square
kilometres in an area.
7. Do you know what the
population density is in
Spain?
8. 93 inhabitants per square kilometre.
It means that in every square kilometre, an
average of 93 people live there.
Most people live in cities and in coastal
areas
9. POPULATION IN SPAIN
The Spainish population has grown during
the 20th century (from 1900 to 1999). In
1900 there were less than 20 million
people in Spain. Now, there are more than
46 million people in Spain.
10. WHY IS THERE A POSITIVE NATURAL
INCREASE IN SPAIN?
Because the number of births is higher than
the number of deaths.
IMPORTANT! The number of births have
not increased, but on the other hand the
number of deaths have decreased.
Reasons:
- Medical care and hygiene have improved
- There is more food for everyone
11. WHY IS THERE A POSITIVE ACTUAL
INCREASE?
Because the number of immigrants is higher
than the number of emigrants. That is to say, the
There are more people that come to Spain than
the number of people that leave Spain.
People leave their countries because:
- There are natural disasters (earthquakes,
droughts, etc.)
- There are wars (for example refugees in Siria)
- There are famines (for example in Sudan,
Somalia, Nigeria, etc.)
- People want a better job and a better life
12. LIFE EXPECTANCY
It is the average number of years that people
live. The average life expectancy in Spain is
about 81 years old.
Do you know why it has increased?
13. MIGRATIONS IN SPAIN DURING THE
20TH CENTURY.
From 1900 to 1999 Spain experienced
three types of migratory movements:
1. International emigration
2. Internal migration
3. International Immigration
15. 1. International emigration.
People had to emigrate to other countries because
of:
- Political reasons. Some people that lost in the Civil
War had to go mainly to America not to be pursued.
- Economical reasons. Some people had to go
mainly to other european countries to find a job and
a better life.
16. 2. Internal migration.
People had to move from rural areas to big town
and cities because there, they could find more jobs
and factories and in services. This was called
RURAL EXODUSRURAL EXODUS.
17. At the end of the 20th century, the economy in
Spain improved a lot, so many people from other
countries came here to find a better life.
3. International immigration.
