Police Brutality Is A Trend Essay
Unfortunately, police brutality is a trend that continues to increase daily. In fact, the Washington
Post stated there was 807 people shot, and killed by police in 2016. Not to mention, in 2015 there
was 901 people shot, and killed by police in the United States. However, there are many underlying
factors that lead to any police involved shooting, or police brutality incident that occurs.
Furthermore, it is important to understand these factors, so officers could prevent any more police
brutality incidents from reoccurring. One factor, that has led to police brutality incidents in the past,
and continues to cause police brutality incidents today is when an officer makes a negative
assumption about a specific ethnic group, or a distinct group of people who share cultural
characteristics (Zastrow, Kirst–Ashman, 2015). This is may cause an officer to think that because
the individuals are the same race, and share a common set of physical characteristics and common
beliefs, that they are all the same (Zastrow, Kirst–Ashman, 2015). Another factor, that could lead to
police brutality is when an officer is ethnocentric, and targets individuals based on their other race
because he thinks his race is superior. Not to mention, Ethnocentrism may cause an officer to have
preconceived negative assumptions about a individual, causing an officer to make prejudice remarks
towards a individual or judgements formed before sufficient knowledge (Zastrow, Kirst–Ashman,
2015). This in turn,

American Association of Medical Assistants
American Association of Medical Assistants 1959 Mission Statement The mission of the American
Association of Medical Assistants is to enable medical assisting professionals to enhance and
demonstrate the knowledge, skills and professionalism required by employers and patients; protect
medical assistants' right to practice; and promote effective, efficient health care delivery through
optimal use of the multiskilled CMA (AAMA). AAMA was incorporated in the State of Illinois as a
not–for–profit professional organization. The national headquarters was opened in Chicago, Ill. The
Scholarship Fund was started with a $200 contribution from Maxine Williams. It was later named
the Maxine Williams Scholarship Fund. A Certification Committee was ... Show more content on

1977 Active membership was opened to any practicing medical assistant who achieved AAMA
certification. The National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) was engaged as the test consultant
for the AAMA certification examinations. Responsibility for the accreditation of one– and two–year
medical assisting programs was transferred from the AMA's Council on Medical Education to the
AMA–sponsored but independently operated Committee on Allied Health Education and
Accreditation (CAHEA). The AAMA Endowment's Curriculum Review Board remained the
recommending body. Revised Essentials of an Accredited Educational Program for the Medical
Assistant were accepted by the AMA Council on Medical Education. 1972 A committee was formed
to begin work on a guided home study course. AMA/AAMA filed a petition with the U.S. Office of
Education seeking recognition as the official accrediting agency for medical assisting programs.
1973 The Curriculum Review Committee became the Curriculum Review Board. 1974 The U.S.
Office of Education recognized AMA/AAMA as an official accrediting agency for medical assisting
programs in public and private institutions. 1978 The Continuing Education Board (CEB) was
formed. For the first time, the AAMA basic Certification Examination was given twice yearly (in
January and June) at test centers nationwide. 1975 The revised certification program, consisting of a
basic test plus three

Parking Spaces In Miami
All the residents of Miami are facing the problem of finding a perfect parking space. It is either the
parking lot is full, or it is way too expensive. People are considering, as the community, we need to
increase the parking spaces by building new ones, but it would encourage more cars on the road,
which will become an endless circle of problems. City planners are thinking of new ways of
extending the parking spaces without giving any reasons to the people of buying more cars in
Miami. Seems the only solution is to encourage people to use their cars less, but with 2.7 million
residents, it is impossible. "In the 2017 Global Parking Index report compiled by Parkopedia, Miami
ranked 19th in a list of the top 25 cities for weekday

Argumentative Essay On Youth Sports
Youth Sports
Have you ever seen 7–year old's play soccer? Some leagues have them play three on three. What
can you expect from a kid playing that young? You have heard coaches yelling commands at the
kids to keep them on track. During the same time, you probably have heard the coach during a time
out or a break in the game raising his voice; what they should be doing and what they are doing
wrong. This has brought up the debates over the past years involving youth sports and whether you
should let your child play or not. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, is among the
sports parents contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate also includes what is the
perfect age they should start playing sports. If your child is under 10 years old you should not put
your child in youth sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the coaches
and officials during games, and coaches only want to win on game day. As a matter of fact, you can
hear or read evidence of bad coaching in youth sports. "The coach called one player a "f*****g
retard" in front of his teammates." (Coben, Harlan. "That's Not Coaching. It's child Abuse". Opinion
World. Bloomberg). You have probably seen it firsthand. A coach throwing their clipboard, yelling
at a child for missing up, and even telling the kids at halftime what they did wrong instead of what
they did right. Every year if you keep up with youth sports around the nation, not just your state,
you can read about how parents are complaining about having a bad coach for their child, how they
did not play, how they were not taught the sport. Some coaches are only coaching because they
signed up their child to play a sport and they believe they can teach him and others the sport.
Knowing the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport are two different things. Some believe they
need to run their program for 10 and under like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to
them in front of other kids. Most coaches in leagues are not certified to coach so anyone can be a
coach, if you pass a background check. This process does not make every person who signs up their
child for youth sports very confident. A coach who usually volunteers is a

College Essay On My Teaching Career
My teaching career began back in 1992 on Montana's Fort Belknap Indian Reservation at the Hays–
Lodgepole Secondary School where I taught a wide range of classes such as Drafting & Design,
Technology Education, Welding, and Woodworking. In addition to teaching, I also coached track
and was a volunteer football coach.
In 1993, my wife and I both received teaching jobs in the Richland School District. During my first
year I was split between the Richland High and Hanford Secondary School. While at Richland High,
I taught Welding and Metal Fabrication whereas at Hanford, I taught Drafting, Woodworking and
Technology Education classes. By 1994 I was teaching full time at Hanford. Fast–forward to today,
I am currently teaching Computer Aided Digital Design (CADD) and Fabrication (Woodworking) in
addition to being one of the national teachers for Guitarbuilding.org.
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts, Technology Education and History from Western
Montana College (1992) and a Master's Degree in Education from Heritage University (1997). I am
currently on my 23rd year of a profession that I love. I have been married for 25 years with my wife
Becky, who is an outstanding and awesome 4th grade teacher at Richland's Orchard Elementary. We
have two wonderful children, Darby (18) and Hunter (15).
All through my teaching career, I have been involved in numerous, activities, committees and
professional development opportunities. I have been a member of our

Blockbuster Video Analysis Essay
The video rental industry was one of the more growing services retailers in the mid–1990s.
However, due to Blockbuster, many rental video companies have failed to compete against this
category killer. West Coast Video, Video City, and Hollywood Video, which are among the few and
only large competitor's of Blockbuster in the tri–state area. Many family–owned video rental stores
could not compete against Blockbuster's assortment of videos.
Blockbuster opened its first store in 1985 and has grown to become the world's number one video
chain. Blockbuster is open 365 days a year with 9,800 stores worldwide. Customer base has risen
above 50 million in the United States as well as several million more worldwide. The Gallup
Organization, known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blockbuster is located at the most condensed part of this avenue and is the largest and most
noticeable business at this part of the area. This Nutley location is the largest store in New Jersey
with 2 floors. There is only a second floor entrance/exit and the new releases are located on the first
floor. Blockbuster also has a large assortment and variety of videos that include: drama, comedy,
horror, action, martial arts, children, musical, as well as the newest line of video games. They also
carry the largest number of DVDs for rent as well.
Pricing at Blockbuster is relatively moderate. New release cost has risen slightly the last few years
and is currently at $4.23 per rental. The length of holdings for the newest releases are two days, the
rest of the new releases are 5 days, and the videos must be returned before noon. Older category
releases are 5–day rentals and cost $3.17, which is cheaper of the two companies. Games are 5–day
rentals and cost $5.99. Blockbuster also offers the rental of game systems. However, they are quite
expensive, they give the customer a chance to test out the system by renting it before they decide to
purchase the item. New video game systems that have come out this year are X–Box and Nintendo
Gamecube. These will be very popular rentals and Blockbuster will carry all the

Police Brutality Is A Trend Essay

  • 1. Police Brutality Is A Trend Essay Unfortunately, police brutality is a trend that continues to increase daily. In fact, the Washington Post stated there was 807 people shot, and killed by police in 2016. Not to mention, in 2015 there was 901 people shot, and killed by police in the United States. However, there are many underlying factors that lead to any police involved shooting, or police brutality incident that occurs. Furthermore, it is important to understand these factors, so officers could prevent any more police brutality incidents from reoccurring. One factor, that has led to police brutality incidents in the past, and continues to cause police brutality incidents today is when an officer makes a negative assumption about a specific ethnic group, or a distinct group of people who share cultural characteristics (Zastrow, Kirst–Ashman, 2015). This is may cause an officer to think that because the individuals are the same race, and share a common set of physical characteristics and common beliefs, that they are all the same (Zastrow, Kirst–Ashman, 2015). Another factor, that could lead to police brutality is when an officer is ethnocentric, and targets individuals based on their other race because he thinks his race is superior. Not to mention, Ethnocentrism may cause an officer to have preconceived negative assumptions about a individual, causing an officer to make prejudice remarks towards a individual or judgements formed before sufficient knowledge (Zastrow, Kirst–Ashman, 2015). People are considering, as the community, we need to increase the parking spaces by building new ones, but it would encourage more cars on the road, which will become an endless circle of problems. City planners are thinking of new ways of extending the parking spaces without giving any reasons to the people of buying more cars in Miami. Seems the only solution is to encourage people to use their cars less, but with 2.7 million residents, it is impossible. • 4. Argumentative Essay On Youth Sports Youth Sports Have you ever seen 7–year old's play soccer? Some leagues have them play three on three. What can you expect from a kid playing that young? You have heard coaches yelling commands at the kids to keep them on track. During the same time, you probably have heard the coach during a time out or a break in the game raising his voice; what they should be doing and what they are doing wrong. This has brought up the debates over the past years involving youth sports and whether you should let your child play or not. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, is among the sports parents contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate also includes what is the perfect age they should start playing sports. If your child is under 10 years old you should not put your child in youth sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the coaches and officials during games, and coaches only want to win on game day. As a matter of fact, you can hear or read evidence of bad coaching in youth sports. "The coach called one player a "f*****g retard" in front of his teammates." (Coben, Harlan. "That's Not Coaching. It's child Abuse". Opinion World. Bloomberg). You have probably seen it firsthand. A coach throwing their clipboard, yelling at a child for missing up, and even telling the kids at halftime what they did wrong instead of what they did right. Every year if you keep up with youth sports around the nation, not just your state, you can read about how parents are complaining about having a bad coach for their child, how they did not play, how they were not taught the sport. Some coaches are only coaching because they signed up their child to play a sport and they believe they can teach him and others the sport. Knowing the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport are two different things. Some believe they need to run their program for 10 and under like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of other kids. Most coaches in leagues are not certified to coach so anyone can be a coach, if you pass a background check. This process does not make every person who signs up their child for youth sports very confident. A coach who usually volunteers is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(page 6) The Hanford Site is located in Richland, Washington along the Columbia river. Richland is bordered by two other towns, Pasco and Kennewick. All together the towns are known as the Tri–Cities. The objective of this paper is to cover Hanford from a historical perspective explaining why Hanford transformed from problem solver to a problem. In late 1942 and early 1943 Hanford was selected as the site of the Manhattan Engineer District (page 14–18). The Hanford Site sits on 586–square–miles of desert in southeastern Washington State. Beginning in 1943, the site was used to produce plutonium for the bomb that brought an end to World War II. The objective of this project was to test and produce mass quantities of plutonium to produce the Atomic bomb. This site appeared to have the correct specifications, according to Lieutenant General Leslie R. Groves, one of the members of the Manhattan Engineer District (page 18). • 16. Anti Gun Crime Introduction When Eli Whitney first mass manufactured guns in the 1790's, his first contract called for production of 10,000 weapons (Eli Whitney Museum n.d.), in 2013 more than 10.8 million guns were produced in America alone, an 1080% increase from Eli Whitney's original contract for 10,000 weapons (ATF 2015). With huge increases in manufacturing comes and equally large jump in gun ownership, one would think; "31.0% of households reported having a firearm in 2014, essentially tying with 2010 for the lowest level of gun ownership in the last 40–some years. This is a decline of about 17 percentage points from the peak ownership years in 1977–1980." (University of Chicago 2015). Over the years the rate of ownership has drastically decreased, but the rate of crime associated with illegal guns has gone up, in a study by Phil Cook, Susan Parker, and Harold Pollack (2015) found that, "70 inmates who had possessed a firearm, only 2, or 2.9 percent or 98.1%, had bought it at a gun store. The growth of the African– American population in the Pacific Northwest (including Washington State, Idaho and Oregon) expanded by 309 percent, between 1940–1950. Many simply came for employment, as WWII contract work gave African–Americans the ability to find steady work in shipyards, defense production opportunities, federal employee positions, Boeing Airplane Company (need for Machinists) and many other employment opportunities for the growing Northwest cities. With the presence of the military, many African–Americans were assigned to the local military bases, moving them and their families westward, to a region with great opportunities. Seattle, Tacoma and Portland would see an increase of over 30,000 migrants, changing the demographics of many cities, to one of African–American decent. Portland offered fewer opportunities for blacks, being regarded as less "accepting" of the cultural difference. Many blacks would move to the Tacoma–Seattle area, where growth and prosperity with defense–related jobs were more abundant. The growing surrounding areas were providing a vast amount of available jobs and housing for black buyers, with less discrimination (as witnessed prior on the east coast). 2) What opportunities and obstacles did the Northwest offer African Americans? • 21. The Tar Creek Mine Environmental Disaster The tar creek mining site originally was owned by a Native American tribe, the Quapaw. The Quapaw wanted to keep these lands, but the Bureau of Indian Affairs deemed members opposing a transaction to mining companies "incompetent" (1). In such a case the business could continue and the Bureau of Indian Affairs sold the lands to mining companies. In essence these lands were stolen from the Quapaw because they were ripe for mining. These mines were then used from approximately 1891 to 1970. In the 79 years the mines were open 1.7 million metric tons (~3.75 billion pounds) of lead and 8.8 million metric tons (~19.4 billion pounds) of zinc were withdrawn from the mine (2). The water came in contact with all of the leftover minerals, including sulfide, and chemicals began to dissolve into the water. This process of dissolving chemicals into the water essentially turned the water into acid (1). Once the mines finally filled, water began to pour out of the mines into the surrounding area, mostly into a body of water now known as "Tar Creek" (1). This creek then spread the contaminated water throughout the community and into numerous water sources. Tar creek was finally put on the National Priority List for the Environmental Protection Agency in 1983 as the highest ranking priority (6). The project was originally considered to only be a water contamination issue, but later high levels of blood lead were discovered. This area was deemed a superfund site, which was 40 square miles that contained five towns around the Tar Creek area (6). The estimated cost of this project ranges from $540 million to a hefty $61 billion (5). The Tar Creek Superfund Project is located in northeastern Oklahoma. It covers parts of Picher, Cardin, Quapaw, North Miami, and Commerce (4). Picher was a small town with a population of around 20,000 people (6). • 25. Race, Racial Segregation And Environmental Justice Race affects the geographical location where people live. Several authors have examined the relationship between race and residential location within cities, and have come to the conclusion that race clearly determines where one resides. The thesis developed in this paper is that people of colour or Blacks usually occupy those areas in the city that are considered high risk, either in terms of how close they are to environmental hazards or in terms of how they are located in low lying areas. The concepts that will be dealt with in this paper are those of environmental racism, racial residential segregation and environmental justice. Social construction is seen as relegating people of colour to certain neighbourhoods, and while it may be accepted as the way things are, a closer assessment of the situation through research studies show that there is nothing casual about the observations, but that there is a system of racism that underlies the decisions that are made, and that accounts for the residential location of Blacks in certain parts of the city. This paper examines this idea by looking at many cities throughout the United States, which point to the same trend, to the location of lack in places of environmental hazard, whether topographical or industrial. One of the geographical characteristics of cities is the proportion of low–lying areas that exists. Studies have been carried out to examine residential segregation. • 29. The Urban Expansion Of Portland Essay ¬¬Portland, Oregon, a city known for its abundance of unique neighborhoods, lively downtown and natural beauty, experienced major transformations during the past fifty years due to an influx of population growth that led the city to go from a modest 370,000 people to over 500,000 people today. Portland was forced to make some key urban planning decisions to accommodate its growing population, which ultimately forced expansion of its network of public transportation systems. The city's actions toward suburban growth created the organized and prosperous Portland of today. In the 1960s and 70s, Portland experienced significant expansion in its technology industry as several major companies settled in Portland's suburban Washington County. Also known as Silicon Forest, this area became the home to major corporations like Tektronix and Intel. Because of this expansion outward into the suburban area and increase in job potential, Portland became more attractive to outsiders and faced significant population growth. It was clear Portland would need to expand its urban territory outward but it was a question of how. This created an uncertainty regarding where the newcomers should go and how the city should deal with its progression into the suburban and rural area. • 32. A Brief Note On Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch And Othmar... Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure, mostly occurring in the 1800's and the 1900's. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure is to people's lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another. Three men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing numerous landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we take for granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York metropolitan area, their contributions, personalities, and the public's opinion of them were all different. Robert Moses was born in New Haven Connecticut. He is considered the "master builder" of New York City, Long Island, Rockland county, and Westchester county of the mid 1900's. After graduating from Yale and earning a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia, Robert Moses became attracted to New York City reform politics. Growing up, John was fascinated with western films and those films would be of influence to his career. Once in high school, John learned that the movie industry was controlled by screen plays. John took his first cinematography class at Pasadena City College while still in high school. It was there he met instructor Jack Akin who recommended the high schooler to enter his alma mater, and it was there where John earned his bachelor's degree in film writing. John won the Jack Nicholson screen writing award which he used to pay for his schooling. Soon after, John won the prestigious Robert Riskin Memorial screen writing award. The buzz from his winning such awards, John attracted the attentions of creative artists' agency where they eventually signed him while he was still a college senior as an intern. It was not long after discussions occurred with Tri–Star which ultimately give John the opportunity to produce his critically acclaim film, "Boyz N the Hood" and provided him with a budget of around $6 million.
