Presentation on inplant training and instrumentation in bhel

  1. 1. Presentation On Inplant Training and Instrumentation in BHEL
  2. 2. INTRODUCTION TO BHELBHEL is the largest engineering andmanufacturing enterprise in India in energyrelated infrastructure sector today. BHEL wasestablished more than 40 years ago. When itsfirst plant was set up in Bhopal ushering in theindigenous heavy electrical equipment industry inIndia, a dream which has been more thanrealized with a well recognized track record ofperformance. It has been earning profitscontinuously since 1971-72 and achieved a salesturnover of rupees 6347crores with a pre taxprofit of rs294 crores in 2000 to 2001.
  3. 3. PRODUCTS OF BHEL (HYDERABAD):• 1. TURBINES• A) Steam Turbines• B) Gas turbines• 2. TURBINE GENERATORS• A) Steam turbine generators• B) Gas turbine generators• C) Air cooled generators• 3. COMPRESSORS• 4. SWITCH GEAR EQUIPMENT• 5. PUMPS• 6. OIL FIELD EQUIPMENT• 7. PULVERISING MILLS• 8. HEAT EXCHANGERS• 9. STORAGE VESSELS.• 10. CIRCUIT BREAKERS (HV)• 11. SYNCHRONOUS CONDENSERS
  4. 4. Content Introduction CA12E HANDY CALIBRATOR Thermocouple RTD Contactor On – Off controllerOn – Off controller Arrangement Circuit Breaker Pressure Switch Header Heat Exchanger Condenser Boiler
  5. 5. CA12E HANDY CALIBRATOR• Manufacturer – Yokogawa.• Used for calibration of thermocouples and RTDs.• Can be used as either Source or sink.
  6. 6. THERMOCOUPLEA thermocouple is a thermoelectric temperature measuring deviceformed by welding soldering or merely pressing two dissimilar metalstogether in series to produce the thermal electromagnetic force (e),when the junction is at the different temperatures.
  7. 7. RTDsRTDs are passive sensors requiring an “excitation” current to bepassed through them. The RTD is normally manufactured through aknown resistance typically 100 ohm at ice point. It has positivetemperature of resistance. Commonly pt-100 is used.
  8. 8. Contactor• Used to make or break connection at low voltage.• It can have a combi- -tion of NO or NC Contacts.
  9. 9. On – Off Controller• It is used to maintain the value of process variable near specified set point.• Model : UNI 7E• Power supply : 220v AC +/-15% , 50/60HZ• PowerConsumption : Approximately 1.5VA• Display method: 7 Segment Red LED Display• Input sensor : UNIVERSAL SENSOR INPUT Thermocouple - J , K , E & T RTD - DIN Pt100, JIS Pt100, Nickel 120
  10. 10. On – Off controller Arrangement
  11. 11. Circuit Breaker• SF₆ (Sulphur Hexafluoride).• Used to switch high voltage.• SF₆ is used to arrest the arc generated while switching.• It takes 0.1 ms to switch between connections.
  12. 12. Pressure Switch• It’s a mechanical device, used to make or break a electrical connection.• A spring is used to provide the pressure limit.• The excess pressure is released through outlet.
  13. 13. Header• Header is used to install the measuring devices. Header
  14. 14. Heat Exchanger• Heat exchangers are devices in which heat is transferred between two fluids at different temperatures without any mixing of the fluids.
  15. 15. Condenser• A condenser is a device or unit used to condense a substance from its gaseous to its liquid state.
  16. 16. Boiler STEAM TO EXHAUST GAS VENT PROCESS STACK DEAERATOR PUMPS ECO- NOMI- ZER VENT BOILER BURNER WATER SOURCEBLOW DOWNSEPARATOR FUEL BRINE CHEMICAL FEED SOFTENERS 16Figure: Schematic overview of a boiler room
  17. 17. Boiler Accessories• Feed pumps.• Economizer.• Air- Pre heater.• Super heater.• Upper drum and lower drum.• Safety valve.• Re – heater.• Fans – Force Draft fan - Induced Draft fan.
