Portraits

  1. 1. Portrait is a picture of a person’s face and head. Its intention is to tell us about the person’s lives, feeling, character and experiences.
  2. 2. Alice Neel is a famous portrait artist who really strives to capture all the feelings of the people she paints the moment they are feeling them.
  3. 3. You can do this by the look of the person in the picture. Their position, the way the person is looking.
  4. 4. The facial expression of the person as well as the colors are important to showing a person’s feelings in a picture.
  5. 6. Create a connection between the viewer and the person in the painting. You can do this through eye contact, looking directly at the camera or viewer.
  6. 7. What do you think she is thinking? How do you know this from what you can actually see in the picture?
