  4. 4. The AMC hosted the 6th Advanced Renal Therapies Symposium. Nearly 150 veterinarians learned about recent research, advanced technologies and medical breakthroughs in veterinary nephrology, presented by eighteen of the world’s most distinguished experts in both human and veterinary medicine.   5. 5. North America’s first cat café opens in Lower Manhattan as a pop-up shop. Meow Parlor, a permanent café opened in November in Chinatown. The cats of Meow Parlor are available for adoption. April 2014 The Animal Medical Center

  8. 8. For the 7th year in a row, the AMC Doggy Dash gave a dog and human team the chance to compete in tandem over a 5 mile course through Central Park as part of the NYC Triathlon. Twenty-nine dogs participated and were examined before, during and after the race by seven AMC veterinarians and four AMC veterinary technicians. July 2014 The Animal Medical Center
  9. 9. The Cat Tracker project, a crowd sourced research project, studies the roaming patterns of domestic cats using GPS technology. It turns out most cats don’t go too far from home. August 2014 The Animal Medical Center
  10. 10. Researchers at Cal Tech and UCLA discover the human brain is hard-wired to respond positively to animals of all types, explaining why Americans have nearly 200 million pets. September 2014 The Animal Medical Center
  11. 11. October 2014 The Animal Medical Center Bentley, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, is quarantined after he is exposed to Ebola virus by his owner, nurse Nina Pham. Both survive and are jubilantly reunited the following month.
  12. 12. November 2014 The Animal Medical Center AMC dentist Django Martel receives a research grant from the American Kennel Club’s Canine Health Foundation to evaluate a new treatment for periodontal disease in dogs.
  13. 13. At The AMC’s annual Top Dog Gala, Swoosh a therapy dog, and Dyngo, a military working dog, are honored for their service.
