Can Google Panda affect your affiliate site

  1. 1. Can Google Panda affect your affiliate site? Google Panda is like kryptonite for the websites that use spammy online content. The algorithm, which Google has named after a cute animal, is designed to separate the bad websites from the good ones. Although the best affiliate sites do not resort to spam-related practices, content creators, affiliates and SEO experts can’t really warm up to Google Panda. Why? Because Google can label their content as irrelevant to the searches that people make. The concept of Google Panda Google had only the best intentions when it created Panda, and its main interest was to satisfy the customers a.k.a. the people who use Google to search the internet. The famous company wants to be sure that when someone does a search on Google.com, he or she will get exact results, not a badly written piece of spam that happens to have the right keywords. How to have relevant content for Google Panda There are some things you can do to make sure that your content stays relevant in a Google Panda world. Even the best affiliate sites can find these guidelines useful:  The location matters. Having a story about a local event makes it much more important. It’s quite hard to get excited about something that’s not happening in your proximity;  New is better. Every article that you write has to have up to date news, not old ones. If it’s successful, you could earn a place among the best affiliate sites;  Will the effects of your article reach many people? If it’s something of high significance, there are many chances that it will be pulled up;  If you provide quality content about prominent personalities or topics, the article can make the headlines;  (A bit of) Scandal. Even if we all like to think of ourselves as above the gossip, we still enjoy reading about it. But only few admit that they like this kind of entertainment. Everyone likes to have the inside dirt and nothing sells better than stories that are a bit controversial. Writing about the latest scandal or controversy may bring you traffic, but we don’t advise
  2. 2. you to rely on such practices. The best affiliate sites should deliver high quality articles, not sordid gossips. Be careful when you write about salacious stories, they may bring you down if you don’t know how to handle them. In conclusion Google Panda was created with the best intentions, meaning that Google wants to rank material the way you would rank it. The change is aimed to lower the rank of “low-quality sites” or “thin sites”, and return higher-quality sites near the top of the search results. The best affiliate sites don’t have to worry about Google Panda if they deliver high quality content. Yes, the tagging and metadata still matter, but also using social media to reinforce your credibility is beginning to gain ground. Bottom line: write something that you want to read yourself, it’s that simple.
