“There is freedom waiting for you
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask, “What if I fail?”
Oh, but my darling
What if you fly?

Much gratitude to my amazing and supportive co-workers at the West
Chicago Public Library District, and those librarians everywhere who have
aided me on my journey. Special thanks to Patrina Garza and Gabriel
Cardenas who joined me on this adventure and shared their tremendous
insight remotely.
Images that come to mind with outreach…Dinner Party, School, Book club, distribution, laughing friends. Also, storm-tossed waves, forest w/o a map, new language
Sometimes outreach can feel like being in a ship in the storm
I hope that our time together reassures you of the life preservers around you
Sometimes participating in outreach seems like a forest without a trail. I feel lost, not sure where to go, how to get there, who is with me, etc.
Hopefully our time together will give you some directions and tools to use when you feel lost
Sometimes outreach seems like you are in a different country - with different customs, people, languages, etc
I hope this time together will remind you that there are guidebooks out there, and there are ways to navigate these new situations and opportunities.
I’m going to share what I’ve learned with you, and look forward to hearing your experiences too!
