  3. 3. Technology use occurs after it has been successfully integrated into the classroom by the teacher!

Technology Integration <ul><li>Technology integration, as defined by the National Forum on Education Statistics (2005), Forum Unified Education Technology Suite , &quot;is the incorporation of technology resources and technology-based practices into the daily routines, work, and management of schools&quot; ( Part 8 ). </li></ul><ul><li>A job required of the teacher so that their students can use technology successfully in the classroom. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Requires an introduction to the new technology so that the students then know how to USE it </li></ul></ul>
  5. 5. Technology Use <ul><li>Occurs after the technology has been integrated. Students or teachers are physically using technology. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Do they Differ in Importance <ul><li>No, because you can not successfully have one with out the other </li></ul>
  7. 7. A teacher cannot simply plop a digital camera in front of their student and expect them to know how to use it or what the teacher wants them to do with it.
  8. 8. What is the successful use of technology? <ul><li>Technology use successfully occurs when the teacher introduces the new technology and has inventive ideas and ways for the students to use this technology. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers can also use technology to supplement their lessons </li></ul><ul><li>However it is important to keep in mind that it should be supplementary not just the lesson. Students need to hear and make connections to their lives, so that they can learn constructively. </li></ul>

How can I integrate Technology in my classroom so my students can use it? <ul><li>You can use technology to supplement your lesson plans: </li></ul><ul><li>You can use </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Digital videos streamed through the internet. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Google Maps can be used by students in geography lessons </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Inspiration and Kidspiration are good webbing tools! </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Interactive White boards are also fun to use! </li></ul></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>Or you can plan lessons around certain technologies </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Have the kids create their own digital videos for history lessons with digital video recorders and iMovie, or Windows Movie Maker </li></ul></ul>
  11. 11. In conclusion Technology use and integration are two separate things but you can not have successful technology use in your classroom with out successful integration
